One of the Los Angeles police officers gunned down in cold blood on Saturday is a 31-year-old former librarian and mother who graduated from the Los Angeles Police Academy only last year.
DailyMail.com spoke to Claudia Apolinar’s 65-year-old father Adolfo who confirmed she was in a stable condition as he held a bedside vigil for her in hospital.
‘I’m here with her right now,’ he said in Spanish, adding that an LA Sheriff’s Department deputy was standing guard outside the hospital room.

She felt she needed to be more involved than being a librarian.
She fought back through being shot.

I was listening to Fox News on SiriusXM last night, and heard the story of how, after being shot in the jaw, performed first aid on her partner who was shot in the head, and made a radio call for officer down. The dispatcher couldn’t understand her because she couldn’t talk very well with a shot jaw. They played the radio call recording.
Above and beyond, and kept her cool during a traumatic crisis.
Hero is the only way to describe her.
Yep. Hispanics have replaced and pushed out Blacks as the dominant group in Compton and South LA (formerly known as the Watts area). You can imagine if it were Whites re-gentrifying the area, all hell would break loose, but this happened quietly and quickly without a peep from so-called Black leaders.
I’m trying to figure out how Maxine Waters keeps getting elected given the demographic changes in her area.

Yup. I used to run deliveries to both Compton and the South LA Post Office (massive facility). Back in the 90’s there were a few businesses in Compton, mostly Korean liquor stores, adorned in bulletproof glass.
Now, because the Latinos pushed the majority of the residing population out, the businesses have come back. I’m curious as to how bad the Latino gang activity is, but they don’t mess with their own community’s businesses.

...agreed! This is the definition of hero. And this is exactly what bothers me about seeing “Heroes work here” signs at grocery stores and elderly homes. They aren’t “heroes” for God’s sake. They’re there for the income. Stop minimizing the word. The end.
almost looks to me that it’s a woman who dresses and acts like a man. the odd running may be from trying to make sure the saggy pants don’t fall down though.
To me that implies they were killed but they've both apparently survived.
Always bring a librarian to a gunfight.
