Dismantling the Electoral College Means Destroying America

Democrats plan to end the filibuster and pack the Supreme Court with radical judges. These changes would give the left license to radically transform the nation. There is, however, another threat they’ve dusted off ahead of the Nov. 3rd election that—if executed—wouldn’t just be transformative, but totally destructive. They want to abolish the Electoral College. Destroying this institution will mean the end of national campaigning (and the engagement, negotiation, and localized promises that go along with it). What politician will ever again stump in Kenosha or Breckenridge? What will a vote get you in Idaho or Montana? It will mean fewer crucial checks on voter fraud. It will mean tyranny by the coastal hives; by California technocrats and by Wall Street corporatists. It will mean a nation highly susceptible to one-party rule and inevitably totalitarianism, which, if still called America, would be America in name only.

There are innumerable articles arguing for and against this institution, yet given the present state of the Democrat Party—majoritively made desperate and hysterical by their upset four years ago, the failure of their Russian collusion hoax (advanced by their acolytes in the mainstream media), bad post-modern thinking, a disastrous Obama administration, and the inefficacy of their deep state coup—it seems prudent to raise the matter once more. After all, it is better to discuss this now when only parts of America are on fire rather than when all is set ablaze by the Dems’ guerrilla fighters upon their realization late November that Trump has won 362 electoral college votes despite losing the popular vote. Plus, if that oracle of daytime-programming wisdom Joy Behar is calling for the Electoral College’s diminution, clearly someone needs to respond.

I read LA county had more population than the each of the fifteen least populated states. Do away with the electoral college and just New York and California will decide all presidential election s.

If I can take issue with this specific point, we don’t have national campaigning now. Many states are ignored by both candidates, as they focus on the battleground states. Some of the biggest states of all, such as California, are ignored because we know the electoral votes for California will go for the Democrats.

And they should focus on the battleground states, because the goal is to get to 270 electoral votes, not to win some mythical national popular vote total.

And of course, that’s the whole point. To destroy America.

Democrats aren’t just the “loyal opposition”; they are the enemy. Antifa/BLM is the underbelly of the Democrat Party.

Eliminating the Electoral College would be difficult, as it requires a Constitutional amendment. But ending the filibuster and packing the Supreme Court - snap easy.

And the D’s will do it first chance they get.

The favorite candidate of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles will almost always win the popular vote, from now on. The political sensibilities of those cities can never be allowed to set the national agenda.

Exactly. The SCOTUS is the final bastion against this nonsense, and if the court is packed...we're finished.

The 3rd and final box is all we'll have left.

All Democracies fail, when the majority learns it can vote itself bread and circuses.

“Do away with the electoral college and just New York and California will decide all presidential elections.”

Currently, there are 538 electors, based on 435 representatives, 100 senators from the fifty states and three electors from Washington, D.C. The six states with the most electors are California (55), Texas (38), New York (29), Florida (29), Illinois (20), and Pennsylvania (20).

So, except for California’s abundance, the other states are closer than you might think and generate down by population to some having only 3.

But where the problem does lie, and it has happened, is in The Twelfth Amendment which requires the House of Representatives to go into session immediately to vote for a president if no candidate for president receives a majority of the electoral votes (since 1964, 270 of the 538 electoral votes).

In this event, the House of Representatives is limited to choosing from among the three candidates who received the most electoral votes for president. Each state delegation votes en bloc — each delegation having a single vote; the District of Columbia does not get to vote. A candidate must receive an absolute majority of state delegation votes (i.e., at present, a minimum of 26 votes) in order for that candidate to become the president-elect. Additionally, delegations from at least two thirds of all the states must be present for voting to take place. The House continues balloting until it elects a president.

The House of Representatives has chosen the president only twice: in 1801 under Article II, Section 1, Clause 3; and in 1825 under the Twelfth Amendment. But it is a loophole and one of the reasons the dems are so interested in controlling the house. And that can be worse than the electoral college which is made up of voters, not politicians with an agenda. (Most of the time)

I didn’t know this until another Freeper pointed it out: The number of Supreme Court justices is not set by the Constitution. It’s set by federal law.

So a Democrat president Biden and a Democrat Congress could easily change that number to, say, 16. It could be done in a day. Then *presto* President Biden gets 7 more Supreme Court picks.

The old-time Democrats never would have gone for such a naked power grab. They, in fact, stopped FDR from trying it. But today’s Democrats will demand it.

To me the easiest way to understand the need for the Electoral College is to look at the county-by-county voting from 2016 and remember that the Founding Fathers wanted the president to have W I D E S P R E A D support, not just support from a few areas.

If 26 states pass state constitutional ammendments that specificy how their electoral votes will be allocated, this state compact can be defeated.

Personally, I prefer the district system for allocation of electoral votes.

The simple fact is that the Dems have LONG planned to eliminate any competition to them running things, similar to the way they now run NY and California - veto proof majorities, districts gerrymandered to prevent any change in that, the judiciary all wrapped up with judges that they’ve appointed for decades, the education system and the media 100% in their corner.

They’ve been planning this since AT LEAST the 1960s, when they passed the Immigration Act (1965), turning immigration on its head (it went from 90%-10% European to other, reflecting the then-existed ethnic status of the electorate, to almost exactly the other way around). This was done not for the next election cycle, or even the next 5-10, it was done for...right about now. Immigrants have, since the late 1800s, voted about 80% for the Democrats. This entire long-term project of theirs was about changing the electorate, because they didn’t LIKE what they electorate said, and frankly didn’t agree with the electorate’s values. Taking over education, the media and the court system has been part and parcel of this long-term plan.

When the Dems next get control of the White House and both Houses of Congress, ALL of their dreams will be put into place:

1) Rigging the federal courts through the simple expedient of packing the Supreme Court and doing the same to the Circuit Courts where they find it necessary;

2) Adding new states - specifically, DC and Puerto Rico, guaranteeing them 4 more Senate seats and a few in the House.

3) Completely up-end the electoral map by legalizing ALL present illegals, largely blowing off limits on new immigrants and letting those newly-legalized immigrants bring in family. Just to be sure, all of the above will be bribed heavily via welfare benefit programs of one type or another.

4) The Electoral College may or may not be changed - they won’t do it if they don’t think it necessary, in order to maintain the veneer of still operating by the Constitution (they’ll need to do this for a while, but not more than 2 or 3 Presidential cycles).

5) The filibuster will be gone in the Senate - meaning that a simple majority in the Senate will be able to pass anything...and that’s where the massive influx of immigrants comes in, together with the addition of DC and PR as states - they plan to ALWAYS have a majority of the Senate.

6) The Dept. of Justice will become the Dept. of Just Us in all but name - and the full resources of the federal government, meaning the FBI and other investigative agencies plus the full prosecutorial authority of the DOJ - will routinely be utilized to blackmail or destroy any opposition office-holders or candidates.

7) Of course, our RKBA will disappear. At first it will be either “just” a registration scheme, or a ban on “semi-automatic weapons of war.” Then will come scoped bolt action rifles, as these are “sniper weapons” that someone will assuredly use to kill some prominent national leader (whom TPTB want to get rid of anyway).

The “Plan” is to wipe away our Constitution - which “progressives” have despised since the 1800s - and to destroy any effective opposition to their “enlightened” rule over us rubes. IOW, the Republic that Americans have enjoyed for nearly 250 years is to be destroyed and replaced by a simple dictatorship - but one that will preserve the illusion of the old Republic for a number of years while all opposition is either propagandized away (via education and the media) or completely dealt with via other means over the course of 10-25 years.

This may well be the last election that means anything - and the Dems not only don’t care about a little cheating, they are FULLY ENGAGED in massive cheating. Power is their only goal - it is like the One Ring in “Lord of the Rings,” an obsession that nothing can stop short of death. Our very Republic, our very lives, are at stake.

I don’t know about any of the rest of you, but my grandfather escaped Soviet Russia in the early 1920s to live his life as a free man, and for his kids and other progeny to also live free - and I will *NOT* live under a Soviet-style tyranny. Those bastards (Stalin’s thugs in the NKVD) murdered my great grandfather after having stolen all that he ever worked for, and while I might not be able to stop that from happening, I promise that it won’t be for free this time.

Don’t you worry, the 12th Amendment will be changed when the Dems get into control of both Houses and the WH. There will be no tool unused, no decency not swept aside, for the Dems to force the legislatures of 37 states to ratify their new amendment...which will almost certainly make the vote in such a circumstance a simple majority of the House.

Voter fraud is easier in big cities. 100,000 fake ballots may get counted in Houston but not in King County, Texas.

2016 election outcome in King County: 149 votes for Trump, 5 votes for Hillary.
