Imagine waking up the morning after the election this November with an unclear result. Suppose that Donald Trump fails to capture the popular vote by a wider margin than he did in 2016 and loses several states he carried that year. With a slim majority in states like Florida and Pennsylvania, he could still garner 270 votes from the Electoral College.
But would Democrats accept such an outcome? There is a substantial chance that legislatures in blue states could effectively overturn the results of the election through a means available in the Constitution. This “nuclear option,” as I call it, has never been tried before but could bring the nation to its knees.

Did the author point out that most of the swing states with Democrat governors — like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina — have legislatures controlled by the REPUBLICAN Party?
At the point, what obligation does the country have to accept the results of a fraudulent election?
There is no nuclear option. This kvetching is silly.

No, that’s not what the ruling stated.
The author’s premise is based on the idea that state legislatures, not the voters, have the ultimate power of selecting Electors. But I imagine that most states’ laws require the state to give the electoral votes to whoever wins the states. Those laws would have to be repealed before the state legislature could assign electors otherwise. And such a thing would require the assent of both houses of the legislature. The author gives the example of Minnesota trying to direct electoral votes towards the democrat, but the state’s senate is controlled by Republicans.
I have no doubt that states totally under control by dems would be quite willing to try and pull such a stunt, but CA, NY, NJ are not likely to end in Trump’s win column.

Didn’t work out too well for the Tsar and his family 100 years ago, end that was in a country and era with almost no technology.
A mentally challenged Biden and a mentally strong and energetic can do incumbent POTUS and there is a question as to who should run America? Power hungry, greedy Americans who could care less about their families, school, colleges, the economy, foreign affairs, law enforcement, first defenders, anti-Americans and illegals who vote i.e. felons and lawbreakers....putting Joe Biden in the driver’s seat, is putting a gun to the head of all loyal Americans.....
I do not doubt that something along this line is what the dimoKKKRATs have planned. I would say stock up on food, gas, ammo and other necessary items.

I believe the USSC ruled that a States electors cannot go togue. Since just 30 States have rules governing their electors I am unsure what happens in the 20 which don’t.

The noise volume around here is already at a “9.” I expect us to hit “11” with whatever October stuff is in the pipelines.
The result will be known within a few days of Election Day. So what? What’s a few days.
If the GOP doesn’t have people in the polling places , and lawyers in the courts...then shame on us.
They key is to vote.
But all of this “what if” junk is not going to happen.
Like the blinded and enraged Samson, they will pull the whole Temple of Dagon down upon their own heads, if it should rid the world of that troublesome President and the Philistines.
Nothing new or original ever happens any more. Always trying to re-create some story from the past....
