On Saturdays broadcast of the Fox News Channels Fox & Friends, State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus discussed negotiations for a peace deal in Afghanistan and stated that there is no military solution to the end of the war in Afghanistan.
Ortagus said, [relevant remarks begin around 3:50] We have had 19 years of fighting in Afghanistan, 19.
This is the hardest stuff that we do in diplomacy, to get to the end of a war. We know that there is no military end to the there is no military solution to the end of the war in Afghanistan. So, we are going to try our best to bring all sides to the table, women, civil society, the government of Afghanistan, and the Taliban to end Americas longest war.

Do it over the phone.
Instead of ending the war we should stir it up getting the entire country fighting (they’ve been fighting among themselves for centuries so it is their natural state), then pull out. If someone or a group gains dominance then send in special ops to take them out and stir things up again.
Keep them fighting within the country so they don’t have the resources to export terror.
Well, there is.
But it won’t be used.
Of course there is a military solution to Afghanistan as the place has been successfully conquered and controlled militarily several times.
Timur, Great Khan, islamic armies and tgr Soviets (up until American intervention) plus others all had conquered the place.
The common denominator?
Extreme brutality with mass killings on a grand scale.
America won’t do that - so pull out.
You beat me to it.
Genghis Khan
Unless you are prepared to commit genocide you will never win a war against an un-organized group of people without a strong central government.
Don’t have to stir them up, they are Muslim. Murder is their religion.
There is only a spiritual solution, and that they have to do for themselves.
Afghanistan did not export terror.
A bunch of Saudis, and an Egyptian, living there did.
There is a solution, but the U.S. does not have the will, or the necessity of performing the solution. That solution is/would have been to, from the start, conduct the war in WWII style - no targets are off limits and the necessary targets would be where ever the Taliban were, which would have included in Pakistan as well; and we would have fight like hell with every means we had until unconditional surrender. There was never going to be enough public sentiment for that and everyone from GWBush on has understood that. BUT that would have won the war and nothing else was going to. We could have admitted that truth years ago. Only Trump has been willing to admit it.
It all still makes me feel very bad, for our troops that died in Afghanistan. We have some guilt that we never gave them everything to win in the first place, and guilty too that we will leave having gained nothing. I say gained nothing because the odds favor the Taliban again dominating Afghanistan.
There was never any reason for us to have boots on the ground there.
They do not want to join the 21st century.
Afghanistan hqs been invaded by the British, the Russians and sadly the Americans. Each despite their modern weaponns and power have been badly bloodied by a people who simply will not tolerate foreigners dictating policy in their medeival culture and homeland. If Trump gets a second term, believe that he will purge the globalists in the Pentagon and manage a total withdrawal. Next the Chinese will take a crack at Afghanistan. They will be lured by all those minerals said to be untouched in those mountains. Things will get very interesting for the Chinese.
What does Afghanistan produce which brings in money? What serves as motive for fighting over control of territory?
The poppy fields.
Have drones patrol the region at high altitude. When they spot a poppy crop, drop a bomb which disperses herbicide all over the field. No boots on the ground, just destroy the basis of the terrorist economy.
Let them eat rocks.
bttt
The Chinese will have no problem exterminating the Afghans, and repopulating the area with their own people.
As with the Uighurs, they will take the young women and distribute them among themselves.
Question is do we even want to conquer and control the country? To what end?
We’ve already wasted over a trillion dollars in that hell hole country, a lot of it in nation building on stuff like roads, bridges, electricity plants etc, which the Taliban promptly blew up after completion.
Afghanistan is of no value to this country. If they want to slaughter each other in perpetuity, that’s not our problem.
Why would the Chinese or anyone want to invade Afghanistan? Of what value are they to anybody?
We haven't been able to stop coca plants and cocaine from South America and Mexico after spending hundreds of billions of dollars to support the militaries in those countries. What makes you think we can stop the cultivation of poppy in Afghanistan?
