The limits are set to stay in place for the foreseeable future, potentially until or even through Christmas, British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Wednesday...Sweden drew sharp criticism for its strategy of avoiding a lockdown altogether as deaths spiked earlier this year. More than 5,800 have died in the country, many times higher than the death tolls in neighboring Nordic countries such as Denmark, which has reported 628.

Must be Donald Trump’s fault.
There is a reason we rebelled
either bug herd immunity is being reached, or not.
either sweden bug strategy is a win, or not.
which is it??
Ain’t happening here.
Whatever, we won’t allow it.
Lot of good to learn from Sweden’s response.
But too soon to say more.
One of the particular things that gets under my skin is their anti-2nd. Amendment attitude.
It's worse under my ancestral people the Irish. They simply don't understand our reasons for firearms ownership and open their gobs(mouths) whenever possible to chastise us for reserving ourselves that right.
They are using tests there that are the same as we use. They “amplify” the sensitivity until they get a positive result from people who have so little virus that they will never have symptoms or be a danger to anyone.
Croatia or Poland, those are the only two European countries I’d consider visiting...the rest is dead to me.
I suspect the fact that the UK is stuck with the NHS has a lot to do with this...
IOW, this is less about WuFlu than the utter national nightmare that the NHS has become.
Last I knew the NHS was/is the UK’s largest employer with over 1,000,000 employees.
Think about the ramifications of that for a bit.
There's been a second wave in Europe. Take Spain for example: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/spain/ The first wave had 9,000 cases per day, the second wave had 7,500 cases per day (at the peaks). The first wave peaked at 866 deaths per day. The second wave has 62 deaths per day.
No herd immunity in the way H1N1 created herd immunity by 1920. But the vulnerable people have died. Also treatmemts have improved. Also the second wave is younger healthy people who aren't going to die and will help achieve herd immunity. Also herd immunity is local. Some parts of cities have it right now.
Here's Sweden: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/sweden/ Deaths down to one per day on average. Looks like a win? Not that simple. Their economy dropped by 8% in the second quarter about the same as ours. Their drop was greater than all the other Scandinavian countries, although others like Norway were close. Their deaths immediate went much higher than ours, but are now a bit lower. There are no easy wins against the virus. Not possible.
The goal is to eliminate Christmas. That will make the invading masses of “immigrants” feel right at home.
The continually ignored questions:
1. How do they define a “case”?
2. How serious are the real cases — the ones with symptoms?
3. And what about padding of the death statistics by false attribution?
Fast forward to Christmas, “Gatherings are banned until Easter.”
Fast forward to Easter, “Gatherings are banned until fall”.
Rinse. Repeat. How to destroy a nation in 2 easy steps. We are doing the same idiotic thing. I hold out no optimism that US governors will open up after Trump wins re-election.
