Rochester PD’s ‘entire command staff’ retires amid Daniel Prude protests

The Rochester Police Department’s “entire command staff” announced their retirement on Tuesday, the mayor there said, amid raging protests over the death of Daniel Prude, the black man who was killed while being subdued by city cops while he suffered an apparent breakdown.

Chief La’Ron Singletary, a 20-year veteran of the force, and Deputy Chief Joseph Morabito, who served the department for 34 years, released statements moments before a scheduled briefing with Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and the City Council about last night’s demonstrations.

During the meeting, Warren told council members that “the entire Rochester Police Department’s command staff has announced their retirement,” adding that Deputy Chief Mark Simmons was also stepping down.

“There may be a number of others who will decide to leave as well and retire,” Warren warned.

Good moves under the circumstances I think. The people of Rochester will undoubtedly enjoy the consequences.

Wait until the insurance companies refuse to cover any riots actions of insurrection in the major blue cities after the cops retire, leave or walk away.

In a couple of days, each of these Blue cities will be out of food, bottled water and basic supplies needed to exist.

Is it time to consider building Trump Walls around these blue cities to keep the rioters/looters inside their riot torn cities?

Why doesn't the Chief of Police tell the public the real circumstances surrounding Prude's death:

- He was high on PCP

- He had ongoing, severe health problems

- This happened way back in March, but someone leaked it obviously to keep the anti-cop narrative going

- The bag placed over his head was a mesh bag. You know, like the screen door with holes in them so air can flow through. It wasn't an executioner's bag.

This is a classic CYA move by the Chief. He doesn't want to get thrown to the mob, yet he needs to keep whatever bonafides he has with da brothas and sistas.

I don't blame him. He's maximizing his utility function, like everyone else. Let the mayor handle it.

“consider building Trump Walls around these blue cities to keep the rioters/looters inside their riot torn cities?”

That’s fantasy. Time to focus brain power (hatred and anger, even better) on real tactics.

Dallas PD Chief announced her resignation today. Last day will be Nov.10.

She was there for 3 years.

Keep in mind they did not "quit", they retired. Meaning now the city/state will continue to pay them but they are no longer working.

How many of you in the real world have the option to just announce your retirement and receive a nice pension for the rest of your lives?

One of them was a veteran of 20 years, so what he is 45 years old or so?

I'm not saying this is BS, I'm just pointing out that being a cop is still a government job and as such comes with some nice benefits that are difficult to come by in private sector.

Reminds me of all the high school teachers who resigned once they figured out the school district would not back them when they tried to instill discipline.

Can’t be fun to be a cop these days when you know the leadership is going to throw you under the bus at the first sign of protest.

This is a classic CYA move by the mayor. She wants to keep her job. I would bet she made a strong “suggestion” to the Chief after her discussions with the DNC.

S BLM is costing black management to quit their jobs, shows you that the advancement of blacks is NOT their aim.

They read the writing on the wall like others will in other cities. If you are in law enforcement and can retire, this would be a very good time to do that.

Correct. This is not about race. It is about marxism.

The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.

How many of you in the real world have the option to just announce your retirement and receive a nice pension for the rest of your lives?

That's sorta my story (sorta). I had a job that I liked, gave me a fair amount of satisfaction, and was stimulating. My plan was to work until 70.

Then I got a new boss who was a soul-sapping plick. He didn't want excellence and productivity - he wanted subservience and blind obedience. When he didn't get it he made life miserable for me. He deliberately did things to cause public humiliation. I tried to make a move laterally of upward but failed. So in the heat of a disciplinary meeting I short-circuited his bullcrap by announcing my retirement. It was worth it for the reaction I got from him.

Best "career" move I ever made.
