Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 45000 block of Highway 371 just after 12:30 a.m. Monday...

A woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was found at the location and transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment...was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A search of the property revealed six additional victims, all suffering from gunshot wounds. All six of those victims also died from their wounds...

Investigators say evidence at the location indicated it was being used as an illegal marijuana growing facility.

More than 1,000 pounds of marijuana and several hundred marijuana plants were found at the location.

I thought it was legal in California no?

It is legal. But growing it to sell without paying taxes to the state is highly illegal. Marijuana may or may not be good or bad for you, but the California Franchise Tax Board insists on getting its cut.

It’s just possible that untaxed marijuana might be cheaper for the consumer than the legal taxed kind. Of course to get it, you have to deal with people who break the law, i.e. criminals.

Hmm, 7 isolated incidents with no connection to each other? I'd leave it alone if I were me.😎

Violence is common anywhere you have vast concentrations of valuables. Including pharmacies, banks, armored trucks and jewelry stores.

A single can of cannabis oil is worth $10k wholesale and vans will be transporting millions worth of product at any one time. And thanks to feds limiting banking for cannabis, millions in cash have to be transported back and stored.

Even fully licensed cannabis companies must have armed security for their facilities and vehicles. Not because it is cannabis but because there is always many millions on hand that violent criminals want to steal. Partially due to the feds making cannabis bank transfers illegal.

it is still cheaper to go to the neighborhood drug dealer
With all the competition and unbelievable variety of products in states where pot is legal, that is simply not true. Opening a weed shop here in Washington State is a license to print money - I've seen duffel bags full of $100 bills come out of the store I patronize, which is run by now wealthy conservatives.

“Six were suffering from gunshot wounds, oddly, most people don’t exactly enjoy gunshot wounds, but since it’s California, ya never know.”

LOL

"If they’d legalize the stuff we wouldn’t have these victimless crimes. Or something."

From the excerpt: "Investigators say evidence at the location indicated it was being used as an illegal marijuana growing facility."

"It is legal in California"

It is so heavily regulated and taxed that it's really only quasi-legal. There's still lots of illegal activity.

How often do we read this...

The shooting appears to have been an isolated incident.

Here in MA you can grow your own. One tent and a decent light—you can grow more than you would ever smoke. You can give it away, 1 Oz at a time. As a “gift.”

And the idiots still drive around with bales in their cars.

You cannot make it much easier than that.
