A new Texas poll shows that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's lead over President Donald Trump is closing, as Democrats work towards winning the Lone Star State for the first time since 1976.
A blue Texas would mean almost certain defeat for Trump, who is already struggling to boost his poll numbers amid the coronavirus pandemic, economic turmoil and nationwide unrest over institutionalized racism and inequality.
Democrats are eyeing Texas's 38 Electoral College votes and Sen. John Cornyn's seat, which is also up for grabs on November 3. If challenger Mary Jennings Hegar can unseat Cornyn, it would be a huge step in the Democratic effort to re-establish its Senate majority.
But a new poll from The Dallas Morning News and University of Texas at Tyler shows that Trump is closing Biden's lead. The former vice president is now ahead 44-43 with all registered Texas voters, down from a 5-point lead two months ago.

Win or lose, Trump is going to be the last Republican president in American history.
Only 41% of Texas residents are non-Hispanic whites.

“Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s lead over President Donald Trump is closing,...” I’m not a professional writer, but isn’t the phrase “closing” used when a competitor is approaching from behind? Wouldn’t “losing the lead” be a more apt phrase to use? And, just for the record, any kind of lead for Biden over Trump is a mirage from the West Texas roadways.
Ridiculous. In suburban Dallas area and Trump flags and yard signs are everywhere. I haven’t seen a single Biden sign or bumper sticker. And Cornyn? His seat is so secure he isn’t even trying, barely spending any money. In fact the dems couldn’t even find someone to run against him, so they got a retread state senator from Dallas to run at the last minute.

Civil War. Since 1978 there have been five GOP and two Democrats
elected.
Antifa and BLM has taken a number of states and moved them to Trump.
Minnesota is the keystone this election.
If Trump takes MN, the RATS are going to loose the House.
Sure media, Biden has a 50 pt lead in Texas and the South. Anybody can make a poll say anything it wants. Name one poll in the last 50 yrs who had a Repub leading at this point.
How about stories on Biden states turning red? New Hampshire is a huge possibility with schools closed. Another reason I’m for virtual teaching at least til after the election. Not sure why I’m the only one who thinks virtual education helps trump’s reelection.
So it’s trending more and more towards Trump. That’s the takeaway here. That shows who will win Texas in November.
People say Texas is ironclad “red”. The left uses demographics,infiltrates universities and easily wins citywide political races. That triad usually will flip a state no matter what the rest of the state thinks or feels. California was easily flipped. The left owns Houston,Dallas,San Antonio,Austin,most colleges and the border is totally blue and a revolving door.
I thought Robert O’Rourke was going to turn Texas blue.

It must be getting late in the game for “fake” pollsters to retain any degree of credibility. Time for polls to start “Trump is closing the gap”. What gap? You mean the gap that never existed in the first place?
Too bad we all remember the polls from 2016, and about how fake they were. This year there just isn’t enough in it for the pollsters to want to walk all over their remaining credibility. So now its “Trump closing”? Bah.
Too bad for Joe there just isn’t any more time left to run their typical push polls to keep pushing voters to Democrats.
Oh yeah. Can anyone remember the last time “polls” started out with some Republican in the lead? Republicans have won 8 of the last 13 presidential elections, so certainly polls must have had Republicans in the lead at least 50% of the time. Right? lollollollol
