BACK TO SCHOOL

By Naval Support Activity Chapel Staff

A child came home from his first day of school. His mother asked, “What did you learn today?” He said, “Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow”.

Going back to school is always difficult for both teachers and students. It also means more traffic with school buses back on the road; probably the only ones delighted about schools reopening are the parents.

Going back to school can be a milestone. Kindergarten, sixth grade, high school and college are all significant marks of progress and change (especially when the kid finally gets a job!). For parents, these can be good times to reflect -- and perhaps to set new goals.

It is good to reflect on memories of your kids growing up, and how proud you are of who they are becoming. It is also important to understand what they will need next as they grow and develop.

An important goal is not only to ensure that they learn reading, writing and arithmetic, but also that they learn about God as well. The Bible tells us to train and teach our children in the ways of God (Proverbs 22:6 and Ephesians 6:4). One great way to do this is to take them to church.

After starting my day as keynote speaker at a 400 strong Biker for Trump rally,
the ensuing 1000 strong Trump Flotilla in the Erie Basin,
I went home. Worked a little, not much and closed out the day.

If the Buffalo News media ever covers it, it will prove to be
one of the biggest events in WNY in a long time.

WNY Loves President Trump!

Howdy, radu!

Hope your cool weather held. Ours did...it’s been really nice!

Steve has a stream on AFTV2 about the CA fires. Just so ya know.

Howdy, luvie.

Glad to hear your cool weather held on. Ours was quite nice today and it’s already cooled off enough to make long sleeves necessary. Feels GOOD out there.

Thanks for the heads up. I was checking out the earlier stream because it was the only one I saw. Now I have the new channel marked and am watching the fire stream from the beginning.

Those fires are really getting nasty. Some of our chatters are waiting for orders to evacuate.

I need to go out for a bit and see how it feels. Says 82, but if there’s a breeze and no humidity, it would be very pleasant.

Yes, they’re very nasty. Just heartbreaking.

Our thermometer is reading 68 but it feels cooler than that. Probably just because it’s been so long since we’ve felt 60-anything and we aren’t used to it. LOL

Thanks....I think I will work on my “desk” area. I’ve been working on the dining room table since March. I bought a desk, but need to get the table all cleaned off so I can move the table and get the desk in place.

Then Monday I will work at work stuff. It is a short work week, and it is pay week. Tuesday will be h e double hockey sticks as Wednesday is still check printing day.

Howdy, Kathy.

I hope you can finish cleaning off the table so you can get your desk in place tomorrow. Not having much free time due to your workload sure doesn’t make it easy, does it?

Why do the holidays always seem to fall on pay week? It rarely seems to fail. LOL Hit the pillows early tonight and tomorrow night because sleep will be in short supply Mon. and Tues. nights next week.

68 sounds wonderful. No wonder you need long sleeves!

That’s about what our high will be on Wednesday. Getting me aclimated for going to WY. LOL!

Great that you got yourself a desk. That way you can differentiate from your home stuff and work stuff. Oy...bad timing for pay week! I hope you get overtime for working on the Holiday!

I saw that there will be a deep dive by the jet stream next week dragging chilly air down to you. There’s supposed to be quite a bit of snow in the Rockies too.
It won’t make it this far east. We have two hot days ahead, then it’ll back off a bit for the rest of the week. Little rain in the forecast so it should still be comfy enough.

I’m ready for a dip. LOL! This high has been sitting over us for months now. Time for it to move on.

The stream is still going. I’m going to have to go soon, so I hope the other mods can stick it out. And I hope those fires are out soon!

See ya tomorrow!

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Are you enjoying cooler temps, like we are, so your romps with Gizmo will be even more fun?

I’ll bet you ARE ready! You’ve been sweltering far too long and need a break.

The stream’s over now. It would be great if those fires could be put out soon but I don’t see much hope for it. :-(

Sleep well!

Well, it's still warm but least not as unbearable as earlier this summer. I actually went ahead and cleaned out the furnace yesterday because they are forecasting cooler weather later this week.

Here are some pics from yesterday at Comanche Lake.

It does look like it was a bit warm based on Gizmo’s lolling tongue. Didn’t seem to slow him down though. Too many smells to sniff. LOL

From what I saw on the weather report, getting your furnace ready was probably a good idea. Y’all are supposed to get a pretty chilly blast next week.

There are 17 other dogs in the park, but none of them seem to enjoy Penny’s sociability (humans only!)

She does not like other dogs, and prefers the company of sentient homo-sapiens.

That’s probably a good trait to have at times. Hope she’s just as picky with homo-sapiens.
