rats used to be big supporters of the military and the vets....
since I are 1...yes
I remember it very clearly; I came back to so called home in 1970, deplaned at SFO, was still in uniform (it was required back then), got spit on by some hippy filth while waiting for a taxi.
Damn near beat that son of a bitch to death right there on the sidewalk.
San Francisco cop who pulled me off that bastard told me to get the hell out of there and just disappear, I did.
Never heard anything else about it.

Powerful read. Trump came to Dover after my wife was killed fighting ISIS. He absolutely respects our service. https://t.co/bBC402gZkO— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) September 5, 2020
The treatment was so disgusting and detestable it drove some to insanity, John F’ing Kerry is a prime example.
Yes.
They were called baby killers, murderers.
They were spit upon.
They were shunned.
Even through the 70’s the military in general were treated like crap.
And it wasn’t until the 80’s that Vietnam vets were recognized, and welcomed home.
My dad did two tours first was in ‘65 with the 1st Cav, second was in ‘68 during Tet with the 82nd Airborne.
Jim, that was the first thing I brought up on FB this morning. The shoe is on the other foot now and they are having a fit. Thanks for helping to keep the memories of what the troops endured from the left during that era.
Your average black person doesn't get what I heard in that time.
1968-1973, We were not allowed to travel in uniform to reduce the attacks.
I’ve heard this for decades. I traveled thru SFO and Monterey Airport in uniform several times in 1969 without any hassle.

I was spit on and called a baby killer by a white mother pushing her baby carriage thru the Dayton OH airport. I told if I was a baby killer her kid is next now, and disappeared.
