Donald Trump said Friday that he won't allow the Pentagon to cut funding for the military's independent newspaper, Stars and Stripes, effectively halting Defense leaders' plan to shut the paper down this month.
'The United States of America will NOT be cutting funding to @starsandstripes magazine under my watch,' Trump tweeted. 'It will continue to be a wonderful source of information to our Great Military!'
Trump's tweet came as he fought off new accusations that he called service members killed in World War I 'losers' and 'suckers' during an event in France in 2018.

As he fought off allegations without evidence....
Thats too bad. Stars &Stripes is a liberal rag paper.
GOOD! I have fond memories of Stars and Stripes, as well as AFRTS. Anybody remember Chicken Man!?
Stars and Stripes is a pretty liberal newspaper IIRC.
So dailyfail posters who usually seem conservative are just believing the accusations with no evidence?
Stars and Stripes is not as bad as the Army/Navy/Military Times, I am told.
Perhaps others can confirm this.
Star and Stripes as well as The Army Times were my two hometown newspapers for 22+ years. Listen to the “Chicken Man” every time I could in RVN, ‘67-’68!
Pentagon needed the money to pay for the wicca classes at San Antonio and more Critical Race Theory trainings.
Trump doesn’t know how that rag has gone left.
stars and stripes is pure, leftist propaganda just like npr.
JoMa
Get the Leftist snakes out of the publication, and get the
S&S back to what it was intended to be.
Good place to start cleaning up the media.
Those are the hardest to fight off.
He probably knows. This is face-saving.
I remember well STARS AND STRIPES and AFRTS. I also remember the OVERSEAS WEEKLY. Now that (O.W.) was a brutal newspaper.
Stupid. He knows NOTHING about Stars and Stripes. If someone knows The Stable Genius, tell him to suspend the publication until he fills the staff with PRO AMERICAN staff who will stay there for years.
IMO, he is wrong on the Stars and Stripes being a valuable source of information. I was in the military, and I have read that rag.
