Two months ago, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy cited spiking coronavirus infections in other states as a reason to postpone the return of indoor dining. As restaurants opened across the country, he said, it was clearly sparking new outbreaks.
Now, as the states restaurant industry prepares to open indoor dining rooms on Friday, some fear the fate of their businesses will continue to depend on how others handle the pandemic.

They’re just following the science, which tells them that lock downs in Democrat-run states are helping Trump’s reelection chances.
The virus isn’t smart enough to know we are in a restaurant.
This whole virus reaction has been a series of decisions made on the fly, decisions made by public officials making it up as we go along.
“””Someone please explain to me how the virus is so smart that it knows you are at a restaurant??? “”””””””
The same way the virus knows it is not allowed to spread at a riot. DUH!
Public officials are fools. It's amazing the power they garner to screw things up.
How WHITE PRIVILEGED of Philly. I’ll have the cheese steak with fries, por favor.
We’ve been out to eat at a nice restaurant just once since limited seating was allowed.
The food was fine, the service excellent, but dining in what looked like a biohazard lab was such an unpleasant experience, we haven’t gone back.
As for takeout, I’ve gotten so good at copycat cooking, and given the high cost, we’re doing a whole lot less take-out than we used to.
Diners lined up for the British Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
About 64 million meals were subsidized at a cost of about $1 billion dollars.
McConnell’s trillion dollar plus relief bill will squander money.
I suggest an American equivalent might have 40% Monday-Wednesday subsidies and 30% subsidies other days of the week.
Topping out at $10/person, subsidies might come to $1200/person for 120 meals.
Help should targeted at sectors in trouble and leveraged.
People should not be paid to do nothing or to riot.
Ive had a few outdoor dining outings which were normal, other than server wearing a mask. I wont dine inside if Im treated as a leper
Some restaurants with drive thrus are keeping their dining rooms closed because they don’t want to pay employees to clean them. Fewer employees required when everybody lines up like sheep in the drive thru.
The problem with restaurant's and bars is you cant wear a mask when eating and drinking.
So here in Maryland eating and drinking is exempted but in practice people take them off as soon as they are seated, including close interaction with the waiter/waitress.
Also the close interaction with people seated at the same table,
We’ve had dinner in and out. Last night we went to one our favorite restaurants and chose to eat indoors because it was a little chilly. Some good friend of ours happened to arrive just after we sat down. They joined us and mind you she has just finished a long bout with chemo. The tables were well spaced and yet the place was very crowded. The dining experience was pretty much the same as before the virus. The only difference..paper menus, big deal, and no sitting at the bar.
So, a whole bunch more restaurants right across the river from Philly! Works for that Mayor!
The virus is afraid of vegetables and orange vests.
the burbs are a free ride and have been open for a while. Jersey charges a toll to get there or return.
Exactly - The story that the Virus spread through Restaurants is total BS. Florida has already wrecked that lie.
Then sell your business and live your life under your bed or in your basement.
will the servers be required to wear a cone of shame?
The whole Covid is like cooties in elementary school. We are really good at not transmitting a mostly harmless disease. Its mostly harmless. 150,000 deaths in 6 months is not a toll that a real pandemic would be proud of. 55,000 people die every day in America and Covid is only 3 days worth. Pretty lame for a pandemic. Restaurants are only worried the same way that kids are worried about cooties. They dont want to be sued.
