A lot of crazy things happened and a lot people taking chances, thinking ‘hey, if we lose it’s the end of the world!’
Today is the official 75 year anniversary of the end of WW II.
Haven’t seen a blip of this on the news today
Like 9/11, so many have forgotten - and here we are in today's insanity :-\
Spot on.
Heard last night MacArthur delayed the official surrender on The USS Missouri to allow time for Allied ships to enter Tokyo Bay
Image the deserved humiliatIon of those creepy diminutive Japs as thousands of victorious USN guys looked on
A time machine I wouldve loved to have been there
Amen
The only known color footage of the surrender:

Includes random shots from the USS Missouri, and all signatories.
Bump
And yesterday, was 71 years since it started.

I’m still looking for the audio of the complete ceremony.
The Japs got off easy. They should kiss our ass forever for rebuilding their country and allowing them to become an economic powerhouse. It’s really quite astounding how well they were treated post-war. And we still have to listen to peacenick eggheads complain about the atomic bombs. Crazy.
“The passage of time will never diminish the respect and gratitude of Americans for the sacrifice and valor of those who fought to safeguard liberty in World War II on the battlefield and on the Home Front.”
The basic message above is quite true. What’s left out is this bunch also survived the great depression in order to accomplish all of that.
The sad part is they gave it all away through leniency when they were in political control in the 60’s, 70’s and some later on. The give away was allowing the cultural revolution of the 60’s which bred today’s mess. The leniency allowed abortions. It allowed communism to take over academia, the MSM and Hollywood.
As a young man I knew several WWII vets with kids my age that said they wanted things better for their kids, which basically meant spoiling them and keeping them in college to avoid the draft.
Yet today Japan is a stable, decent, civilized country and Germany is *still* trying to destroy Europe.
A wonderful day to silently celebrate. Those that gave their lives in that war should forever be held in the highest regard.
Unfortunately, today’s youth have been robbed of the importance of this day in their current schooling.
WWII planes will be doing a flyover in Michigan today.
Thanks for posting. The September 2020 issue of the American Legion Magazine has a photograph of the signing on the Missouri on its cover. The now forgotten September 2nd date was celebrated immediately after and was was being observed as the day WWII ended but it’s no longer being done as well as the 1700s September day, the day after, when the Paris Accord Treaty was signed and the world recognized the United States as a country.
The greatest generation won the world war but lost the battle for America.
Warrior blood runs in my veins, because my family was military for several hundred years. As a military wife, I supported two husbands in wartime, was a military mother with two children who served in peacetime, and the grandmother of one who served in Afghanistan.
I’m ashamed of the antics of the children throwing tantrums in cities where they feel they need to break things to get some attention. They all need to be spanked and given some hard labor. That includes the “news”casters.
The Left is nothing but an indulgent distant relative who spoils everything and everyone it touches.
‘Face
The words that ended the second World War by Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
