The Japs got off easy. They should kiss our ass forever for rebuilding their country and allowing them to become an economic powerhouse. It’s really quite astounding how well they were treated post-war. And we still have to listen to peacenick eggheads complain about the atomic bombs. Crazy.

Because we didn't want it to fall under Soviet domination. That explains The Marshall Plan, as well.

My Dad was and is recorded as Korean War Vet (he was also a WW2 Vet except he was 13 (15 when he was caught) and got sent home) went back to his same Squadron in the Pacific when his Mother signed the papers when he turned 17...
Left to Him ... Bayonets at 2 Paces, lets Do IT! ... for the first 10 years of my life he was all WW2 and it wasn’t until I was in my 20’s that I even knew about what he did in Korea.

My EX Wife was Filipino ... Left up to Her ... Every Japanese gets to Jump off a Jeep and Impale themselves on a Bayonet, held by a Child.

My EX Wife’s Dad and her Grandfather were known for Be-Heading Japanese soldiers and leaving just the head on the trail (The Ex’s Dad didn’t stop when the War was over).
The Chinese were worse but Time allowed them to integrate ... may be awhile before the Japanese can do the same.

The EX’s Father did Far Far Worse ... in my mind he was worse than the Japanese invaders and just as Cruel but being
Muslim he cannot be Judged, for some reason the POS got a pass for his Heinous Crimes and was serving time just for killing Japanese after the WW2 ended
His Family (Kids) DID NOT (especially not his daughters) they did not fare as well ...
His 11 Children (save one) did not even attend nor offer to help to pay for his Funeral
