A man who raped and strangled a 10-year-old Kansas girl in 1999 was executed this week, becoming the fifth federal inmate put to death this year.
Keith Nelson received a lethal injection at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, after a higher court tossed out a previous ruling that the government was required to obtain a prescription for phentobarbital, the drug used to kill him.
Questions about whether the drug caused pain prior to death had been a focus of appeals for Nelson, 45. He was the second inmate to be executed this week after the Trump administration resumed federal executions after 17 years.
Nelson kidnapped Pamela Butler off a Kansas City street while she was rollerblading in front of her home on Oct. 12, 1999, planning to sexually assault and kill her. After raping her, he strangled her to death with a wire.

This is justice.
Still... Winning!
But it is pretty fast compared to some on death row for 30 years. I am glad he is gone.
Someone should ask him if the execution hurt. My guess is that the executee will have no comment on the issue.

So the idiot obama judge was immediately over ruled.
How much pain prior to death does being strangled with a wire cause? Or doesn't that count?
“Questions about whether the drug caused pain prior to death”
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. You mean the girl painlessly suffered her strangulation and murder? Insanity runs deep....
Oh I just looked again and it looks like 1999 that is a long time. I read your post of 2019 so disregard my earlier post except for I am glad he is gone.
Why was this a federal case?
**The death penalty would be a stronger deterrent if a man knew that he would be dead within a year**
In the past, Presidential assassins met their deaths within two months of the crime. It still should be the same.
Ecclesiastes 8:11-13
King James Version
11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
I hope it caused excruciating pain.
At least 18 to 19 years too late.
They sure couldn’t wait to execute McVeigh, did they?
You make it sound like we won a football game. A little girl was raped and murdered. Act appropriately.
“still winning!” is a great comment when another mile of border wall is built. Not when a little girl was raped and strangled.
I am glad he was executed but show a little respect for the poor girl
Am I the only person who thinks the 8th amendment is one of those ideas that sound good at first but turn out to be a bad idea?
We spend decades and tens of thousands of dollars coddling the worst scumbags to crawl on the face of the earth before finally sending them to meet their maker when one bullet in the back of the head will do the job instantly and as painlessly as anything else.
Not to mention the pain that poor child suffered during the rape. I wish this fiend had died in tremendous pain.
If they caught him first,,perhaps...
Both state and feds can bring charges. May have went with whoever could bring the biggest sentence punishment.
He deserved the pair of pliers and a blowtorch treatment.
