He was there to protect private property.
He was attacked by a mob of thugs.
He defended himself.
He may not deserve a medal, but he should not have been arrested.

If he has some kind of relationship with the owner of the property he was protecting, I’d say he deserves a medal. My fear is that he was just some bored, naive kid from Illinois who has played too many video games and had no clue what he was getting himself into.

Agreed. If all the politicians and police were doing their job, none of this would have happened. The police have their hands tied, so they’re not quite as responsible.
