If he has some kind of relationship with the owner of the property he was protecting, I’d say he deserves a medal. My fear is that he was just some bored, naive kid from Illinois who has played too many video games and had no clue what he was getting himself into.
I disagree. From what little I could see in the videos, he had good control over his weapon until he had no choice but to use it, and he maintained possession of it.
A video game freak likely would not have a weapon like that to begin with, and if he did, he’d be like in the games, just shooting away from the very beginning.
This kids life was in serious danger.
If this all turns out to be the start of CWII, this young man may very well get credit for the first two commie kills.

He most definitely had way more than a clue what he was getting himself into. He performed superbly, was disciplined, only engaged when he was attacked and only engaged the actual threats who were attacking him. He didn’t panic. He obeyed self defense laws such as retreating when able. This kid has drilled and trained.
