C-SPAN's livestream of the first night of the Republican National Convention has attracted nearly 440,000 views, marking a substantial increase over the start of the Democratic National Convention, which drew 76,000 views.
The numbers for Monday night come ahead of traditional TV ratings from Nielsen Media Research, which will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Nielsen, 18.7 million people tuned in to the first night of the virtual Democratic convention from Milwaukee and Wilmington, Del. last Monday night, which featured speeches from former first lady Michelle Obama and former Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio)
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's speech last Thursday night was watched by 21.8 million people on TV, beating out the numbers for other major speeches at the party's convention earlier in the week.
Still, the numbers for Biden mark a 21 percent drop from presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech at the Democratic convention in 2016. They are also more than 38 percent lower than President Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican convention four years ago, which drew 34.9 million viewers.

I see this all the time but never type it...That’s hugh and bigly! (hope I got it right)
Besides their lunatics and thugs running amok on the streets, I just don’t see any real enthusiasm among Democrats behind Hidin’ Biden. If anything the President accounts for all the enthusiasm for both parties. He is sucking the oxygen out of this political campaign.
It shows. The Democrats have no real sane ideas for this country except that their candidate is not Donald J. Trump. It’s the same tired, spoiled, and cold gruel of higher taxes, more equality (whatever the hell that means), and green energy.
I watched the GOP Convention on C-Span. The major networks did a disservice to Americans by talking over the thoughtfully selected speakers. There is a time to be silent.
Thankful I could watch the whole evening without interruption.
they come to see DJT and he will be there every night.
440k to 76k the first night...
a measure of almost 6:1... the numbers will only increase.
One major reason for cspan viewership is that Fox refuses to let its many viewers just watch the convention.
I swear cable news and their decision to talk rather than show what’s happening, has “canceled” real history and replaced it with blather.
Many of the convention speakers are well known, many lesser known are interesting.
Huge difference in numbers of folks viewing the two conventions.
Ds are a nuisance like no-see-ums.
Which is why it wouldn't surprise me to see the Nielsen viewership for the RNC to not be much higher than the DNC. Many news channels did their part to try and suppress viewership of the RNC.
Surprise surprise. Maybe there is hope for America after all.
And to me when the president was with the people who had been imprisoned in foreign countries was the most illuminating discussion of the evening.
Hearing their stories and the way the administration listened, fought and negotiated for these citizens.
Talk about good news that was buried.
Dems dont know how to find CSPAN
Another statistic worthy of mention is the number of times President Trump appears in public each day of the RNC Convention vs Sleepy Joe Biden’s one appearance during the DNC Convention.
“The major networks did a disservice to Americans by talking over the thoughtfully selected speakers”.............................. I tuned into CSpan, I saw the gruesome foursome from CNN blathering and decided to watch George Raft and James Cagney instead.
I believe the correct phrase is ‘hugh and series’. But in this case ‘Bigly hugh and series’. :)

I fully agree. The media talking heads can keep their mouths closed. I do not need their ‘expert’ opinions.
But, but, Joe Biden is a really caring fella. He cares. he really cares. So they say.
In that ten minute segment, Donald Trump showed that he cares about the American people in ways that Biden and Harris can’t even contemplate.
when he said that there are more hostages we’re getting out really quickly it seems he has his finger on many pulses.
Some of those require deft negotiation while others require long term espionage and precision military intervention. A friend of a friend was involved in one of those during the Bush administration. It took over a year to infiltrate the cartel to pull it off.
Yes!
It was so worth it
Ditto. C-SPAN. Not a second of babbling from the media.
