Clothing store waives $20 appointment fee for black customers — but whites still have to pay up. And backlash is intense.

A clothing store in downtown Savannah, Georgia, raised some eyebrows recently when it waived a $20 appointment fee for black customers and other people of color while keeping the fee intact for white customers, WJCL-TV reported.

"Most of the feedback has been that our decision to waive this refundable deposit is racist because it favors people of color, black people, and indigenous people," Blunk added the station.

However, the store said that white customers who don't have $20 for an appointment can select the "don't agree" on the booking form so the booking manager can reach out and come up with other options, WTOC-TV reported.

But Civvies did say it wouldn't accept appointments with white customers who simply refuse to pay because of the policy, WTOC added.

Google Maps had blocked customers from leaving reviews for the better part of 2 weeks. Now, that option is available again, but the many negative reviews have been removed. I infer that Google condones false allegations of racism, but uses the big liberal eraser to purge factual, well documented instances of actual racist practices.

Do they do some kind of paper bag test for objective skin color determination?

Who pays a $20 fee for an appointment at a clothing store?

A $20 fee to receive clothing advice from someone who dresses and looks like that?

They looked like Second (or Third) Hand Clothes anyway.
Why stir up all this trouble, making everybody mad.
The manager still doesn’t quite it why this way wrong, but he’s reacting to the many negative comments.
He absolutely must be a Hilary Voter.

Yeah really...a20$ fee just to enter a clothing store. In Savanna, Ga. How did that store manage to keep its customers? Did a person get a 20$ refund after a purchase?

Go to the store with a hidden camera. Get the interchange with the manager on camera.

Leave and go to a civil rights lawyer, show them the video, and sue them for everything they own.

Who pays a $20 fee for an appointment at a clothing store?

Possibly people who want a quiet shopping experience and plan to purchase, particularly if it is in an upscale area. It's possible the store was dealing with a lot of people who rummaged through the clothing items and trashed the place without making a purchase. It's also possible they were dealing with a high amount of theft.

Savanna, the independent state of Chatham County. The incident is basically a nothing burger. Trivial.

Is Blunk a man or a woman? Honestly, I can’t tell. Tranny, maybe?

No, it is racist because the decision is based on race.

They should be sued.

Wow. From the store's website:

"Civvies is a unique selection of apparel, accessories and novelties curated by and for our clientele. Our one-of-a-kind, boutique and vintage-oriented inventory is generated mainly by our customers who are welcome to trade items in exchange for 30% cash or 50% store credit of the total retail value of the items. We do not accept items in garbage bags or on hangers. We carry both vintage and contemporary clothing but focus on items from the 90s or earlier. We buy seasonally. We buy for cash most every day on a first-come, first-serve basis. We buy for store credit until and hour before we close. First time sellers should call ahead.

Shoppers can find styles ranging from the early 1900s to contemporary fashion. We also sell online via civviesonbroughton.com and our Instagram. We do not support white supremacy, racism, xenophobia, sexism, transphobia or homophobia in our store. We prioritize the comfort of our queer, trans, and intersex shoppers, as well as black folks, people of color, and femmes. We ask that you are respectful of all our customers and the cultures and identities that are represented in our merchandise.
We do not have gendered sections.
"

On second thought, maybe I would want advice from that person.

“Here’s $20. What do you think I should wear?” And then never, ever wear that thing.
