Former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell says President Trumps decision to include him in his cabinet had nothing to do with his sexuality or identity politics.
Speaking to Breitbart News on Saturday, Grenell, the first openly gay US cabinet member, said Trump doesnt care about these types of issues when considering whom to appoint for a position.
Grenell, who served as US ambassador to Germany and recently joined the Republican National Committee to handle LGBT outreach, said the commander-in-chief focuses on who is best qualified for the job.

I never knew he was gay. Don’t care.
All I know is that he did a damned fine job as acting DNI.
Exactly right. I don’t care. Is the person the best qualified for the job? That’s the only relevant question.
Pretty much my view. I don’t care what someone does with consenting adults in their bedroom as long as they do the damn job.
Before the more Neanderthalic get on the post - consider that this particular gay man did a better job as DNI than all the hetero occupants of the office did in the last thirty years.
Again - I don’t care what people do with consenting adults in the privacy of their own home as long as the job gets done. The job being of *national* importance.
We should be focusing on getting people in positions that will do the job no matter what they look like or what they do with consenting adults. Unfortunately, some here don’t get that...
He did the people of this country a great service as acting DNI. He is a patriot.
So swamp confirmed one of their mole ratcliff swiftly.
ratcliff is big disappointment so far.
so are barr, durham and fbi mole wray.
And thats exactly what he said. No identity politics.
I had many gay friends when I lived in SF and I remember that one of them said to me one time that he hated the fact that being gay had suddenly become a political category.
I think there are probably a lot of gay people who feel this way, but they’re too afraid of being cancelled to speak out.
Identity politics is not politics at all because it denies the very existence of the polis, of a common body of citizens.
Well said.
Ric is a great Patriot we need him in DC. He is a fighter. He understands this is about DC vs The rest of us.
Historic. Oh right, no identity politics.
Richard Grenell was hell on wheel when he was DNI ... i’m praying that he’ll be the replacement for FBI director Wray when Trump is re-elected ...
Grenell is terrific. And this was a very good interview with him & Dave Rubin...

The word “openly” is significant. There are suspicions about several Cabinet secretaries including Secretary of State James Buchanan and Attorney General Janet Reno.
