Manhattan is an island off the coast of America. Are we part of the United States? Kind of. And this is one of the toughest times weve had in quite a while.
But one thing I know for sure: The last thing we need in the thick of so many challenges is some putz on LinkedIn wailing and whimpering, Everyones gone! I want 2019 back!
Oh, shut up. Imagine being in a real war with this guy by your side.
Listening to him go, I used to play chess all day. I could meet people. I could start any type of business. Wipe your tears, wipe your butt and pull it together.
He says he knows people who have left New York for Maine, Vermont, Tennessee, Indiana. I have been to all of these places many, many, many times over many decades. And with all due respect and affection, Are .. You .. Kidding .. Me?!
He says Everyones gone for good. How the hell do you know that? You moved to Miami. Yes, I also have a place out on Long Island. But I will never abandon New York City. Ever.
And I have been onstage at your comedy club Stand Up N.Y. quite a few times. It could use a little sprucing up, if you dont mind my saying. I wouldnt worry about it. You can do it from Miami.

Jerry’s quite a fag. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that”
But NYC will roar back. Sometime. As long as its not nuked.
Is this the same Jerry Seinfeld that says he can’t/won’t do Colleges and College towns anymore because todays students etc have no clue as to what comedy is?
Jerry, those students you were bypassing may not grow up but they do age and reproduce and pass along their values or lack of them to their heirs and if they get into ‘education’ they have many to reach at once.
Where would Wall Street relocate to? Dallas?
I see all the restaurants that are serving people outside. That’s great for a few places in the sun belt, but come winter, how does that work in Seattle, NY, Chicago, etc.?
In the mean time, me and all of my ilk are working from the comfort of our own homes.
Hey Jerry....THAT’S JUST NOT RIGHT!!!
He needs to tell us what HE pays for personal security otherwise he can STFU!
Outsourcing comes to NYC. 80% can work form anywhere, anytime. Outsourcing and offshoring has destroyed many a city and many dreams in the USA. Now NYC get to feel the sting.
And you shouldnt worry either Jerry.
New York will never abandon you either, as far as taxes go.
Ask Rush Limbaugh. They still audit him every year for NY State income tax purposes.
Last I heard anyway.
Seinfeld was recorded in LA for nine years. Why jerry is seen as an expert on NY is beyond me.
“Maybe. The difference between now and in the past is, as was explained in an article right here on FR, that...there is no longer a necessity to go to a city to conduct business.”
Well said. Add to that the insanely high legacy costs of NYC. It has a vast, mostly crumbly network of roads, burdened by winter freezes and heavy traffic. And it has incredible pension and retiree health care liability. See https://www.forbes.com/sites/mayrarodriguezvalladares/2019/01/29/americas-largest-cities-are-practically-broke/#7c4c3ac02ebb It may be in the worst financial condition of any American city. It stands to reason that as living there becomes less necessary due to technology (and as public safety declines due to disease and liberalism-induced crime), the costs of propping up NYC will become increasingly unbearable and therefore unsustainable.
escape from new york, for real.
Just as important, how would it change?
Sein makes zero acknowledgment here of DeBlasio’s failings and has minimal recognition of NYC’s shortcomings in general. His enormous wealth insulates him from 98% of the crap that the rest of the peons have to deal with. What a tone-deaf piece.
This is analogous to, say, one of the Getty family extolling the virtues of living in my town of San Francisco. If you’re residing in beautiful mansion with spectacular in a neighborhood where the entry level is $10 million, well, life isn’t quite the same as it is for some poor schlub stepping over heroin addicts passed out on the street in the Tenderloin.
I hope some of the art forms and activities do come back in some manner. I’ve never been to New York, the state or the city. Going to see a few plays in the round, a few top level musicians and art museums has been on my bucket list my whole life.
I recall studying the Guggenheim Museum in Art History. Carnegie Hall too, if it’s still functioning.
Surly, Antifa/BLM cannot destroy all of them. Right?
Um... hes like 65. So even if he spent 9 full years outside of New York thats still over 50 in it. Hes qualified.
You. Yerry Seinfeld are no comedian. ..

Its dead Jerry.
