Vet Warns Lawmakers: ‘Our families are starving. We’ll become revolutionary citizens soon’

Redding, Calif. – A military veteran in Northern California expressed the frustration of many when he addressed elected leaders in a recent public hearing over California’s business and social lockdowns.

Carlos Zapata, who owns a martial arts studio in Redding, took the Shasta County Board of Supervisors to task at a public forum this month, saying the coronavirus restrictions are threatening the lives of his and other families.

“At first we sat as concerned citizens, and we all wanted to best figure out how to navigate our way through this COVID thing,” he said. “As we realized that it’s not as quite as dangerous as we thought it would be, I was absolutely appalled."

“I’m a business owner and I’m telling you, our families are starving,” he continued. “You guys can sit here with your jobs — you’re going to sit here and get paid to fall asleep in your chair like that gentleman’s doing behind his mask right there.”

“I don’t blame you for wearing masks because I would be hiding my face if I was you for what you’re doing,” he added.

Zapata, misidentified as Carlos Picatta in forum video posted on YouTube, was one of almost 100 Shasta County residents who spoke at the August 11th meeting.

He issued a warning to the group:

“Right now we’re being peaceful, and you better be happy we’re good citizens, but it’s not going to be peaceful much longer. And this isn’t a threat — I’m not a criminal. But I’m telling you real good citizens are going to turn into revolutionary citizens real soon,” he said.

Zapata, who served in combat in the Middle East as a Marine, said he knows six veterans who have committed suicide after losing their jobs.

“How do you feel about being complicit and perpetuating that — the greatest hoax ever perpetuated on the American people?”

Afterwards, officials with the county, which tends to vote Republican, blamed Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom for the lockdowns.

“Our local health officer has not made any restrictions over and above what the state of California has, so we are doing all that we can to keep the county as open as possible,” Donnell Ewert, the county’s Health and Human Services Agency director, told Redding.com.

Mr Zapata, in rural CA, is a victim of the 1962 SCOTUS case of Baker v Carr, the upshot of which is that a state’s big cities rule the entire state.

From Wikipedia:
“Baker v. Carr and subsequent cases fundamentally changed the nature of political representation in the United States, requiring not just Tennessee but nearly every state to redistrict during the 1960s, often several times. This re-apportionment increased the political power of urban areas with greater population and reduced the influence of more rural areas.”

Yep.

And Staten Island may be part of NYC, but it’s as hard to find a gun here as it is to find your own bathroom.

Barber shop down the block was busted for selling Israeli machine guns.

I think everyone knew forever and the authorities finally found out.

You need to be freeze dried or doing hard time to not know where to get a piece in 5 different places out here.

And gangsters and crime families...they don’t worry so much about NYC’s gun laws.

Like I always say..I’d rather get judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Ah, Clint made some tolerable movies.. but, patriot, he has never been, did he not come out in support of the progressive Bloomberg? His chair is as empty as the one he portrayed at some Republican convention!

Our local health officer has not made any restrictions over and above what the state of California has,

Not enough.

You quite calmly say you are not going to enforce those restrictions as you see no need for them.

Don't pull the "only following orders" malarkey. You are responsible for what you do.

We are going to "polite" and "rule follow" our selves right into slavery.

Learn to say "No."

Hubby is a 80 yr old Ret. SCPO, NAVY 1958-78. 20 YRS, OBAMA STARTED CUTTING OUR HEALTH CARE EACH OF THE 8 YRS HE WAS IN OFFICE, while Commissary, Exchange prices went up, many lower Rates are on food stamps. Brass has on Base housing.

MANY LOWER RATE MILITARY WITH FAMILIES MAKE TO LITTLE TO PAY RENT, UTILITIES, CAR INS, CHAMPUS, AND FOOD. IF YOU THINK THE COMMISSARY IS LOWER PRICED, THINK AGAIN, ABOUT SAME AS REGULAR STORES. FEW THINGS ARE LESS. EXCHANGE GEARED TO BRASS PAYCHECKS. We end up shopping Kroger’s. At least before COVID they had sales.

Something might help
Shut down ballot harvesting. Force the Prius transporting said ballots to the side of the road, get the person out of the car (You don't want a murder charge), then torch the Prius, fraud ballots inside

Well, maybe its time the local health official told the fascists is Sacto where to stick it and politely offer a personal lube to facilitate.

If the local government is not going to stand up for its citizens, the citizens will start taking care of matters themselves. Unfortunately, they will probably start at the wrong level in any disobedience.

>>>>>My white collar conservative friends in their early 50s, maybe I’d like their support in fixing my laptop or getting my finances in order...but physical violence...not so much.<<<<<

May wanna ease up on the stereotypes a little...

The guy I share an office with is gonna be my spotter when the time comes... Among the things being a conservative office dweller in major cities has taught me is CAMOUFLAGE. Also, the valuable skill of being able to sit motionless for hours until a high value low risk opportunity comes into the picture.

I’m also kind of handy with beakers, filters, pipes, and mixing stuff together gently and precisely at a specific temperature. It’s really needed for certain recipes.

I have a feeling that one of the guys I report too, a West Point Grad that retired a captain after flying Apaches for a few years would probably be worth a little something too...

I will close out by adding that I am in no mood (let alone the physical conditioning!) for heroic charges, kamikazee runs, or a straight up fight. But in an insurgency, a few of us button down types might be worth something. The retired marine that taught me to shoot years ago was really clear —
“I never knew until lead was coming at us whether the baddest @$$ looking and sounding marine in my platoon would freeze and cry like a little girl or whether the guy that pees his pants when he’s yelled at would turn into a stone eyed killer. Either, neither or both happen.”
