I havent posted a thread in a few years now, but I hadnt seen this posted already and it seems like it should be getting attention. My apologies if I missed where it has already been posted. Pretty convincing if you believe your own eyes and trumps any 'science' about masks I have seen to date. Its only a 2:55 video.

I would be interested in seeing a test done with controlled size of aerosol droplets of various sizes tagged with either an isotope or with some fluorescent substance.
I would expect to see that response with vaping demonstrated in the video which I presume is a vapor composed of very fine droplets composing the vapor, not the kind one would expect with someone coughing or spewing droplets. But I think it does illustrate something anyone who wears a mask knows if they spend even a single second contemplating it-air comes in and goes out freely at all points along your face covered by the masks we commonly use.
I don’t think masks are worthwhile except with someone who may be coughing and spewing droplets (and only then because it is better than nothing at all) or as a mental palliative for people really worried.

I think wearing them outdoors is absolutely asinine and the peak of stupidity...never mind people wearing them in their cars as they travel down the road which is off the stupidity scale.
Washing hands and avoiding touching your mouth, face, eyes, and nose until you do, is the best defense in my opinion.

I think the point of this is that aerosol droplets can penetrate any of the common masks in use so they provide zero prevention, the exception possibly being cough/spit size droplets.
You witnessed aerosol going right through the mask material. Poor fit has no effect on that.
Because it’s not all about tiny droplets. Blood and guts can squirt out from the patient you know. Of course this has been explained many times on this forum but the mask brigade will never give up.

Yes, and I appreciate the link, but with so many sources out there refuting each other, I found this video to be a simple “I can see for myself” explanation and argument.
Surgeon’s masks are designed to prevent bacterial spread, not viral. Huge difference in size. Not only that, but a surgeon’s mask is put on, used, and discarded in an environment specifically designed for such use. It is not designed for use outside that environment. They don’t touch the mask once it’s in position. They discard it in biohazard bins once it’s been used, not in a pocket, the dashboard, or hanging from a rear-view mirror.
I have come to view it as a sign of submission.
I wear it in my line of work because I am required to. And I wear it in a store if they request it, otherwise, if I don’t want to comply, I take my business elsewhere.
But I think the mask wearing subject is causing far more problems and issues than it presents.
If this were indeed a serious pandemic like Bubonic Plague, people wouldn’t need to be forced to wear a mask, or quarantine, for that matter.

ANYONE in medicine knows that viruses and bacteria attach themselves to respiratory droplets - and that is what a mask catches - which is WHY doctors wear them when they are performing surgery on you - to keep their bacteria and viruses out of your open wounds and keep you from getting infected.
So- if you believe this NONSENSE - the next time you have surgery - tell the entire surgical team to unmask and operate on you without them - you will be fine.
