LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Members of Louisville’s Metro Council have asked Mayor Greg Fischer to step down from office.

A resolution asking for his resignation was filed Monday morning. It was sponsored by several council members who said they feel frustrated with Fischer’s handling of the protesting and rioting; sky-rocketing numbers of homicides, shootings and car-jackings; a lack of transparency about the Breonna Taylor case and the problems with the city’s police department, among other issues.

IMO, this should have been done a LONG time ago. By our estimation about 80% of businesses in downtown Louisville KY have boarded up their glass storefronts. It looks like a damned warzone. Some people may say, 'You don't live there, why do you care?' This is my hometown and it hurts to see it look like this.

Trump needs to hammer this into the minds of blue city voters.

Your Dem mayor/governor betrayed you. I can’t manage your city, but you can by voting them out.

I was born and raised in Chicago. Believe me when I say that I understand what you said.

Churchill Downs is going to run the delayed Kentucky Derby the first Saturday in September and they have been given permission to have a limited live crowd at the track. The fact that Louisville is a mess with ongoing rioting is going to impact one of Kentucky’s core industries.

Worse yet, I'm hearing rumors that NFAC (Not F**king Around Coalition) the armed black militia that marched through Louisville a few weeks ago (you might have heard about them with the accidental discharge during their march) are supposed to be back that weekend.

Don’t be so negative with Mayor Fischer. He was able to get bike lanes on the streets.

Tragic if that happens. This year’s derby has some of the best 3-yr-olds in years. Horse racing has been the only major sport that kept going and didn’t go “woke” during this terrible year. I’m concerned the freaks might try to break onto the track and, if that happens, the danger to humans and animals will be off the charts. Horses don’t give a damn about human politics, but when they panic, they can kill people and themselves.

This is my hometown and it hurts to see it look like this.

I'm not from here, but I've now lived here 2 years and it breaks my heart.

NOTHING Decent is allowed to survive.

Correction: 20 years, not 2 years. We love it here.

Or, at least, we did.

I’m waiting for Leland Conway to run with this. His favorite target was Mayor McBikelane.

Also, the very radical Linda Sarsour and her crew at untilfreedom.com have moved here (Louisville) for a while. Sarsour lead a protest on Ky. Attny. General Daniel Cameron’s front lawn. 85 were arrested on a felony charge, after threatening to “burn it down” if Cameron, who is investigating the Breonna Taylor case, doesn’t give them what they want.

County Attny. Mike McConnell dismissed felony charges, in the interest of “justice”, while acknowledging the police had just cause to arrest them. This empowered the leader of NFAC militia to also threaten to “burn this MF down”, when NFAC returns.

Some people may say, 'You don't live there, why do you care?

I want to bitch slap any moron who says that. Louisville has tremendous potential but Fischer and the liberals running it and Jefferson County are killing it.

Fischer's response was instructive; he blames Republicans.

This is also very informative of what Fischer thinks...

The resolution comes a week after Fischer sued the council in an effort to stop LMPD Interim Chief Rob Schroeder and Public Safety Director Amy Hess from publicly testifying under oath about the recent unrest.

He doesn't want it stated under oath that he has hogtied the police in dealing with rioters. Truth is painful for incompetent liberals like Fischer. And the truth is that most of the responsibility for this on going fiasco rests entirely on his shoulders.

And I went through a tornado once - not to mention Katrina...so I also know what living in one of the anarchist zones of destruction is like...many of us citizens went around sporting our weapons to deter looters after Katrina...compare what went on in MS to what happened in NOLA and you will be able to infer an armed citizenry is useful...
