These charming individuals could be in for a lot more trouble than just local vandalism charges, since the statue depicts Washington in a military uniform. That means they may have run afoul of 18 U.S.C. Section 1369 which provides:

(a)Whoever, in a circumstance described in subsection (b), willfully injures or destroys, or attempts to injure or destroy, any structure, plaque, statue, or other monument on public property commemorating the service of any person or persons in the armed forces of the United States shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.

(b)A circumstance described in this subsection is that—

(1)in committing the offense described in subsection (a), the defendant travels or causes another to travel in interstate or foreign commerce, or uses the mail or an instrumentality of interstate or foreign commerce; or

(2)the structure, plaque, statue, or other monument described in subsection (a) is located on property owned by, or under the jurisdiction of, the Federal Government.

Since the statue depicts Washington in a military uniform, there's a good chance that would be interpreted as "commemorating [his] service in the armed forces[.]" Although these five are all CA residents, there's also a good chance they planned at least a part of their crime over either the Internet or by using cell phones, meaning they would have used "an instrumentality of interstate or foreign commerce[.]" Thus, they could be looking at serious Federal time.

I find out more about the riots and arrests from the UK daily mail than I do from United States online news.

The editorial policy is hard left but at least they report news on both sides of the fence.

perhaps they still understand that editorial pages are for editorials and the rest of the site is for news

Just goes to show that none of this is some sort of spontaneous emotional outbreak. This is all highly coordinated and funded activities.

These are state charges in California, so in all likelihood, any charges will likely be dismissed.

Unfortunately this is probably City property and nothing will happen unless Federal charges can be brought against them. This was obviously well planned. These are Antifa scum and the Feds need to come after them with the RICO Act.

" - as cops recover gas mask, laser pointer, helmet, goggles, arm protectors & change of clothing to conceal identity"

Then there is the report of 2 BLM stopping a vehicle with guns drawn, not to mention the nightly riots. This matter is getting out of hand. I'm still waiting for them to move on the suburbs, according to their threats. That would be an entirely different scenario depending on which suburbs.

It may work in surrounding suburbs of the Red riot cities which are mostly unarmed. Try it in a Blue city suburbs and see what happens. I've talked to my neighbors here in Orange County, CA. Once they start attacking our Main Street centers, then our strip mall shops and start to move on residential areas, they will feel the wrath that they have built. No further details.

Make them
1) pay for damages to all statutes
2) restore statues
3) go to jail

Throw away the key

If they used the internet to collaborate/conspire they violated the US code.

Who arrested them? That’s an indicator of how they will be charged.

I wonder when these Antifa clowns are going to try
to invade and wreck Mount Vernon (G. Washington's former
home) in Virginia? I've been there three or four times and
it's a fascinating trip back into the past. Washington
had a great site overlooking the Potomac.

I would hope the Governor of Va. would
call out the National Guard to defend the place
should Antifa try and invade the site.
