New Zealand's latest lockdown is set to cost the economy $440million a week but that figure could grow if the outbreak worsens, economists have warned.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made the drastic move to force New Zealand back into lockdown on Wednesday after four new COVID-19 cases emerged.
The shutdown is expected to last until midnight Friday but the number of cases are continuing to rise, sparking fears the nation could be hit by a second wave.

New Zealand population is 4.88 million. Total deaths as last reported by Worldometers is 22, since the beginning of the virus outbreak.
That would be about 4 deaths per million population.
This woman prime minister of New Zealand will be proven a fool. The moment the lockdown is lifted, a new surge of cases will resume. She will be chasing the virus forever, like Captain Ahab chased the white whale in Moby Dick.
She and her country were boasting of their genius in stopping the virus. As it turns out, the virus cannot be stopped by these lockdowns. In the process, she is destroying her country and causing more suffering, by far, from the economic disaster than the people might suffer from the virus.
Her obsession with trying to keep a few people alive is forcing them to live lives NOT WORTH LIVING.
The operation was a success but THE PATIENT DIED.
Time will prove this woman wounded her country deeply with her misguided tyranny.
