ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) Were worth the whole dollar, thats what Black women proclaimed during an event to combat pay equities across Monroe County.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello signed an executive order to crack down on companies who arent paying women of color equally. The order said he will hold companies accountable if they dont follow equal pay laws.
Thursday morning Bello was joined by the Pay Equity Coalition during his signing at the South The Alarm event organized to recognize Black Womens Equal Pay Day.

“South the Alarm???!!”
Were worth the whole dollar, thats what Black women proclaimed...
And the ones on 3rd avenue in brooklyn in the ‘90s were.
Even $10.
Pfft - it passed the spell check dude, like whaddya want?!
They’ve always been accountable. This is just kiss a** cr**.
If members of the Revolutionary communist party formerly known as the Democrap party are so concerned about how much people in the working class make, then why are they so hellbent about removing Trump from office when he was setting records for employment and the economy?
Also lead to less contractors working for the government - meaning minority companies, meaning subpar work.
not everyoe starts at the same wage

So it appears they are telling companies to NOT hire black women. If anyone white is making more, no matter their experience, they will get sued.
No. What they want here is the women who are working desk and administrative jobs to get the same pay as the people who are doing the actual work that might require special qualifications like operating heavy equipment, etc. On govt jobs even menial file clerks make far far more than equivalent private sector jobs. But still far less than the technicians do. That’s the goal. Same pay regardless of duties.
It’s nothing but a shakedown.
Very true.
You have to compare apples to apples. You have to compare the pay of men doing a certain job, along with credentials and experience, to women with the identical qualifications, to see if there is really discrimination.
To compare the pay of men who are licensed electricians with the pay of women who are secretaries, is a meaningless comparison. Yet liberals do this all the time djring discussions of pay disparities.
He just won an election over the Republican County Executive so he has to get his pandering and agenda in place.
Where I work we pay blacks three fifths what we pay whites.
You can’t calculate income equality based on annual income alone. You have to take all of the data and break it down to an hourly wage based on experience in their field of work.
Naturally, if a man has more experience in a field than a woman (either of them of any skin color), he is more valuable and will be paid more. Likewise, if a woman has more experience than a man and works the same hours, she is more valuable. Women with families also take more time off, not to mention that sometimes our menstrual cycle does things to our psyche that may decrease our productivity. I used to be extremely depressed and exhausted during my cycles.
It’s more than, “We have the same job but he got paid more annually!”. That is a ridiculous complaint that is overly simplified.
South The Alarm? If Rochester were any further north itd be in a Canadian lake...
