A Florida county sheriff on Tuesday sent an email to his deputies ordering them not to wear masks while on duty or when they are in his office.
The order from Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods extended to MCSO employees, as well as visitors

“[M]y order will stand as is when you are on-duty/working as my employee and representing my Office – masks will not be worn.”
Woods said he came to this decision based on current attitudes towards police officers in the U.S., and to ensure clear communication from deputies. He said the no mask policy will also help identify anyone coming into the office.

A local radio station in NJ was talking about placing a Red Dot on your mask. Their thought was to show people you do not agree with wearing a mask. Would be interesting to see if people start doing this and if so how many.
Back in the 60’s Cook county Illinois had a sheriff by the same last name who was also Republican and would issue similar orders
I would think that for certain jobs like police work, a mask could, even if only in a small way, debilitate the officers ability to physically do his job, making heaving breathing while running difficult, potentially obscuring vision in a physical altercation, etc.
Yeah, never mind about the rest of the work force who’s safety demands good clear communication...

Yay! Maybe the tide is turning. This mask stuff is so stupid.
However, there’s another county in Florida where they hired special mask police to detain and fine people not wearing masks OUTDOORS. DeSantis needs to put a stop to this.
The mask police are basically a replacement for speed traps, that is, revenue for cities collected from innocent, harmless citizens on the basis of arbitrary or even falsified violations of local ordinances.
Safety for them, not for you!
My doctor told me straight up that wearing masks was just virtue signaling. Thats my doctor!
Reminds of a video clip I saw of "Harrison Bergeron". In the interest of equality, police were burdened with thick shades, heavy weights, earplugs, etc.

Saw a bus driver almost hit a woman crossing the highway. I was close enough I would have had blood splatter and body parts on my windshield. Driver was looking through 3 layers of shield, a windshield, face shield and glasses. I don’t think he saw her.
I think a lot of doctors will tell you that privately but they’re all afraid to say so openly. I live in Duval County, where we were fine until our RINO mayor hopped on the Dem social-control mask bandwagon, and my sister, who goes to a variety of doctors for various things, said that they have all privately told her the same thing. What a strange situation!
Anyway, you all are lucky to have your doc!

I depend on lip-reading a little or a lot depending on
the circumstances that I’m in.
This mask “thing” can make my life very difficult not
only because of the inability to lip-read,but also

Another case I hadnt thought of, but yes, makes no sense whatsoever to encumber a driver of ANY vehicle with a mask. I still fly passenger aircraft two weekends a month. I would never fly with a mask. How is driving a bus any different.

That’s my sheriff! Some background info...the City of Ocala, FL (same county as this sheriff, Marion) city council voted last week to enact a mandatory mask order, if unable to socially distance, to be enforced by BUSINESSES (including Churches)! The ordinance was useless as it was to be enforced by the businesses with penalties as follows 1) a stern talking to, 2)verbal warning, 3) written warning and 4) $25 fine. Needless to say it was met with much disdain by the community. The police chief (city, not the county sheriff who’s mentioned in this article) said they will not respond to “no mask” calls and the Mayor vetoed the city ordinance based on the community outcry but the city council is holding an emergency meeting this week to possibly override the veto.
I believe that was city of Miami Beach or somewhere in Miami-Dade County. Very different demographics and politics in that county and this one (Marion) and about 300 miles difference. Though the county to the north of Marion (Alachua - City of Gainesville) is just as zany/liberal.
Masks are completely worthless for viral containment. There are many NIH studies done over several decades that all make this perfectly clear.
An epidemiologist on the Ingraham Angle about 6 weeks ago was asked about cloth masks and viruses. His answer was unique. He said, wearing a cloth mask to prevent viral infections is like putting a canopy of chainlink fencing over your property to keep mosquitos out.
