Joe Biden has chosen Kamala Harris, the prominent senator from California whose political career has included many barrier-breaking moments, as his running mate, his campaign announced on Tuesday.

Biden really hurt himself here.
The African American community already has issues with her. She rose to the top by putting African Americans in prison and keeping them there. Criminal justice and police reform were not important to her while advancing her career. If the Democrats don't get over 90% of the African American vote, they greater their chances are of losing the Presidency.
She dropped out of the race before the first primary. The primary showed she has no traction in California, which went to Sanders over Biden. Neither Biden or Harris are strong in California right now. A Biden-Harris ticket puts California in play.

I was scared to death that it would be Michelle Obama. Whew!I would not be surprised if one of the reasons the entity claiming to be "Biden" took so long to decide was that they were hoping Moochelle would run. I was wondering if the Obama team was afraid that running for VP might complicate some campaign finance laws WRT their netflix shows.
