Democratic lawmakers in Albany are never satisfied: Their party already has a firm lock on the key levers of power, yet last week they moved to solidify that power even more via an amendment to the state Constitution.
And because they control both houses of the Legislature, the measure sailed through easily, with barely any public input.
The amendment deals with the redistricting process how new maps, based on the Census, must be drawn and approved. And the changes essentially favor Dems and tie Republican hands, so Democrats will be free to draw lines to their advantage.
Under the plan, minority parties would lose their ability to block partisan district lines. The number of Senate districts would be locked at 63 (the current number) to preserve the Dems edge and head off any new GOP-leaning districts. It also requires that residents, regardless of immigration status, be counted a clear bid to create yet more Dem-leaning districts.

Non-urban Lives Matter
Exactly. When are people going to wake up?
Not substantially different from the rules set in place after the ascendancy of the National Socialists to power in Germany and the establishment of the Third Reich. The Nazis took things one step further by rounding up and imprisoning, later executing, most or all the dissidents.
Keep in mind that Adolf Hitler was a great proponent of “green” environmental policies, until he wasn’t. “Green” is no way to fight a war and invade other countries.
There’s that word again. It was like finger nails on a chalk board during the Obama era, at least to me. It’s a word the left loves to use. It’s a word the left understands. They don’t understand our Constitutional Republic, nor do they want to. They only know that word, therefore they aren’t qualified to be Constitutional leaders in our great Republic.
Only authoritarians, despots seek to rule. Ours is not an authoritarian form of government. The word “Rule” has its place, but not as intent to govern our form of government.
I hate the left. Sorry if that’s “hate speech”.
Run as Democrats.
But maybe with no one in NYC to count for the census, it might no look so good.
NY just signed its death by suicide certificate.
See ya...

The first item - fixing the number of seats - may not be in state constitutions (or it may), but long-standing traditions has fixed the number of seats.
The second thing - counting aliens, legal and illegal, could violate the 14th amendment. It’s not clear from the first sentence of Section 1 that state jurisdiction extends to such persons.

Thinking about moving to New York?
See how much moving will cost you in taxes.

New York may eventually have 100% Dem elected officials in Albany. But they wont be able to pay their bills because they are driving out all the taxpayers.

During Jim Crow days when Republicans moved south, they would be have to resister as Democrats since all Southern states were one party democrat.(the winner of the democrat primary WAS the candidate since Republicans never won)
That switch party thing allowed them to vote against the most offensive democrat... and sometimes run a RepublicanLite as a democrat...
There are ways around democrat thugs.
And yet republicans just sit down watching.
Funny you say that. A judge is waiting in the wings to stop that from happening. Oh but not New York of course.
We are just a corrupt Country now. It was inevitable when God was taken out of our lives.
‘NY Democrats are moving to lock in one-party rule maybe forever’
Seems to me that is their plan for this Republic if they can cheat their way into the House, Senate and White House in 2020.
The US has had one party rule since 1988.
If Republicans do that, the Democrats sue and get to redraw the districts themselves.
