Pelosi slams Trump's executive order as an 'illusion' in 'Fox News Sunday' interview

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed the executive actions President Trump took this weekend to provide assistance for Americans struggling amid the coronavirus as weak and an "illusion" on "Fox News Sunday" with Chris Wallace, as she defended Democrats' stance asking for trillions more in aid as negotiations with the White House and Senate Republicans have stalled.

"No, in fact, what the president did is -- I agreed what the Republican senator said -- is unconstitutional slop," Pelosi, D-Calif, said, alluding to a statement Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., put out criticizing Trump's executive actions.

She also emphasized the alleged "weakness" of Trump's orders.

"While it has the illusion of saying we're going to have a moratorium on evictions, it says I'm gonna ask the folks in charge to study if that's feasible. While he says he's going to do the payroll tax, what he's doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare, so these are illusions," Pelosi said.

The wife would see 60% of the $1200 (stimulus check) in payroll tax savings, but I will see a bit more than 2x the $1200. So yes better off.

Been wondering how this works for a sole proprietor who pays the entire amount...

The fact that both parties cannot -through the legislative process - compromise on such a critical and immediate need, shows just how flawed it can be.

It's the fact that one party is willing to use, and prolong, the suffering of others to advance their own power that should be troubling.

For all of my love for our system, there are incredible flaws that the Founders never thought of because of how enormous our government and country has become. Just the fiscal problems alone will kill the country.

Indeed and that gives President Trump very broad powers without Congressional Approvals or even oversight.

Many forget that very fact and perhaps instead of listening to Pelosi babble on about powers, we should be looking at his National Emergency Powers and how it applies to these Executive Orders.

The fact remains though that the Democrats are acting like stubborn 2 year old children while the nation burns with need and civil unrest. When a nation is deprived of their means of production and prosperity or access to their prosperity (taxes) bad things happen. And that is exactly what the democrats are attempting to orchestrate.

I am reminded of the op-ed Henry Kissinger had back in April. Yes, that old evil fool is still around kicking and seems to be pulling strings.

Failure Could Set the World on Fire
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8187313/Henry-Kissinger-warns-coronavirus-spell-economic-doom-generations.html

1. Find a treatment/cure
2. Heal economic wounds (democrats are blocking)
3. Kissinger writes special programs need to be developed to help fix the damage of those most affected by the shutdown.

Lastly, Kissinger writes the principles of the liberal world order need to be protected, noting that an enlightened government believes it should provide ‘security, order, economic well-being, and justice’.

As you can see Kissinger is telling us what needs to happen and the Democrats are blocking President Trump every step of the way. The Democrat antics are not only bad for the nation, they are very bad for the world order.

We’re about to see all of this twisted back on President Trump with double speak from Pelosi. Everyone, D and R, know what needs to happen. The Democrats are stalling...thinking they can drag this out until the election, win the election, and then appear to save the nation and the world. The problem is Biden isn’t capable of doing this. This is a time when ...if congress would put aside their partisanship and come together, an entire nation could be healed, divisions healed, and maybe Americans could be proud and happy with our government. Instead Democrats continue down this spiteful path that for all intents and purposes looks more like civil war and treason.

President Trump can’t create the plans to move our nation forward out of this pandemic mess without the cooperation of the Democrats right now. So, we have to deliver for him a Republican House and Senate in November. Personally I’d like to see the banishment of the Democrat party, but the timing of that isn’t appropriate as it would be filling by communists/marxists.

This is why the mail-in voting is so important to the Democrats. It’s their only way of remotely assuring their on-going tenure in politics. And this is why we need to get off our local butts (yes I wanted to say the other word) and get active in getting out the Republican Vote, talking up all the great things happening under President Trump, reminding them of the stalling tactics and why. WE need to help pull back the curtain on the power-hungry democrats. Their greed, their selfishness is going to destroy the world, not save it.

Step back from the macro-lens and view this from a much bigger angle. We need President Trump now more than ever for another 4 years.

It will all work out. It will be ok.

Oligarchy for a little while. I’d rather it be Trump than Pelosi.

What you call weakness the Founding Fathers called a strength.

They knew this was going to happen. They knew Congressional stalemates were going to happen and they were okay with it because it meant the system was working.

To say this is a weakness is to not understand the original intent of the government for the people and by the people. EOs were not meant to break the stalemate, only to help the country get through it while the critters work out an effective solution. In addition, the Founding Fathers believed stalemates were good for the country so that frivolous major legislation was not passed.

What the demoncrats are doing now is holding the country hostage. This is all on the demoncrats. What you describe is apathy and is one of the major contributors to the fall of the Roman Empire. And is the reason any nation stumbles and eventually falls.

He can spend money appropriated for this emergency to address this emergency and that's what the $400 enhanced unemployment is about and why only $300 of the $400 comes from the feds, the Law caps Fed's contribution at 75%.

Dems were always going to attack him over the payroll tax holiday and say he's trying to kill granny. I don't really see it being useful to me personally because it's just delaying debt, they require legislation to do more.

The evictions thing is murkier and I'm not well versed on the complexities there. I would think that would have to come at the state level but he is directing the executive branch to study what can be done to help. Even if it's just "for appearances" it shows he's interested in helping people within the limits of his authority.

Trump is not disadvantaged by exposing a "do nothing" Congress trying to do trillion dollar things not covid-related in covid legislation.

Pelosi stuck in provisions banning Voter ID and expanding Mail In Voting while eliminating Signature Verification for those Mail In Ballots in her Kung Flu Bill

Exactly, and to the democrats that is a key part of the bill that they refused to negotiate on. It is all about stealing the election in November which is the only path to power for them with their doofus candidate in the basement.

It’s already on Facebook this morning: the president’s action “will end Social Security.”

So, it’s back to the old Dem playbook.

Unfortunately, the Social Security fear tactic has historically been an effective one.

It is a strength as long as the country broadly views it as a strength. But when lots of lives (and livelihoods) are on the line, indecisiveness in the face of a crisis leads people to long for authoritarianism (if for no other reason than it ‘things get done’). It is not healthy for a nation that is established on limited government to go through lots of crises where the legislative branch must be ignored because it’s incapable of action.

“Instead of the executive order on payroll, he should have shined the spotlight on their refusal to cooperate. “

By doing the EOs he did shine light on dems refusal to cooperate.

Isn’t there $1.2 trillion remaining from appropriations under auspices of a Covid-19 declaration of a national emergency, which remains unspent??? Money priorly allocated to states, which still hold that unspent balance? The EOs merely direct the spending direction for available funds already approved for emergency aid?

If you’ve listened all along to Pelosi’s press briefings etc on this bill it’s quite easy to see her beef basically is she didn’t get the ‘bail out’ funds for cities she wanted. Further the extra “play money” she was hoping to get. She was going for a ‘gravy train’ that had nothing to do with the virus no peoples incomes.

Then, the evil and dumb Trump said, “Ain’t happening on my watch, Babs!”

Treasury is sitting on $1.8 trillion in cash balance, conjured from issued T-bills over the prior three months. See page 9:

Yep a 10% sales tax with the cities/counties getting
4%. Then, they can wind down their welfare and keep what is left over. No more fire chief/school top dogs getting 250 K plus benefits. No funding from Uncle or Aunt Sam.

The states get 2% (enough of these blue state monarch/despots/governors) Again, No funding from Uncle or Aunt Sam.

That leaves 4% for the nation. The deep state thugs will go nuts. Let them go nuts! No borrowing. They must exist within their budgets.

No more freebies for illegals/semi legals and foreign nations.

Then, short term limits 4-6 years total for any/all governmental position with a maximum of 4-6 years per life time per individual.
