Just woke up to an earthquake in Raleigh, NC. My Earthquake3D app says it was a 5.1 magnitude near Sparta. Friends on Facebook reporting it from mountains to sea.
No news on it yet... so here you go!
Felt it in the middle part of South Carolina.
Our house was shaking about 1/2 hour ago. It felt like a mild to moderate quake. Much preferable to other, man-made, causes of such disturbances. No damage, but no fun.
I thought I felt a little tremor here in central Virginia at around 8:09 am. I put it off to imagination but now I’m not so sure.
Wow, pretty jarring here @ 8 miles outside of W. Jefferson!
I felt the shaking here in East Tennessee, glasses clinking on the shelves.
I’m ready for Yellowstone......

This would be the biggest quake in North Carolina since the 5.1 in 1916 near Asheville.
Daughter felt it up in Raleigh.
Did not feel it here in Fayetteville.

The M 5.1 quake about 2km from Sparta, NC at 8:07 am was the second at that location since midnight. There was also a M 2.6 quake about 2:00 am.
