The M 5.1 quake about 2km from Sparta, NC at 8:07 am was the second at that location since midnight. There was also a M 2.6 quake about 2:00 am.
I felt it in central NC.
Didn’t feel a thing in Blacksburg Va but I never do. Cats were pretty anxious
Rolesville, NC here. Did not notice it.
Earthquakes do occur in that part of the country. A big one destroyed Charleston, SC in 1886.
Felt it in Charlotte...heard a slight creak in the house framing
Just my luck. I slept through it 10 miles east of Lenoir which is 40 air mile from the epicenter. I will now go and get ready for the plague of locusts, hail stones, lightning bolts from the heavens that I am sure will follow.
Here in beautiful downtown Bat Cave NC, a hair clip fell off my wife’s dresser, I stepped on it and broke it. We will rebuild.
Didn’t feel it but I’m in a big apartment building.
