Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and other state officials called Friday for Leelanau County road commissioner Tom Eckerle to resign his office after he was heard using a racial slur during a public meeting.
The altercation arose on Tuesday after an official asked Eckerle, who was elected road commissioner in 2018, why he wasnt wearing a mask for the proceedings. Was the slur something like “nagger”?
I hate the “N” word. I haven’t heard the word uttered by any non-black person I know and I don’t know any racists. The word is in almost every rap song I have ever heard and allowed on public radio and entertainment.
Is something really a slur when it is socially unacceptable for 87% of the population? How offensive can it be when those offended use the offending word? I’m offended by the term “white privilege” and all of the stereotypical descriptions of white people.
People losing jobs, being cancelled, harassed, threatened, or assaulted over the use of the word is what should be unacceptable. The time has come to remind everyone of the right to free speech and how it covers speech that is offensive. If the word causes such pain to blacks, why is it used at all? By anyone?
Actually both house of the Michigan legislature are Republicans. Ineffective, but Republicans.

Most people understand that what’s going on is not necessarily just a black thing. It’s multicultural, it ain’t pretty and it stinks.
Amish...
Is the N-word actually two? One a noun and capitalized and the other a verb/adverb?
NAACP or naaCP?
Just asking!
Moving up from around number 10 to maybe number 3 pick doesn't mean a lot.
It’s a question of political strategy.
