Thursday on MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell Reports, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) weighed in on the possibility of President Donald Trump giving his speech accepting the Republican Party presidential nomination from the White House, despite some suggesting it could a violation of the Hatch Act.

I think its an outrage, Gillibrand lamented. President Trump continues to demean his office. He continues to break norms, and if anyone helps him do his speech, its in violation of the Hatch Act. So he may well be exempt, but again, to misuse federal resources for political gain is something that we do not tolerate and is illegal in many respects. So I hope he does not choose to again cross that line and continue to undermine the office of the presidency by doing things that are inappropriate and unethical.

Since when did a liberal give a sh*t about the law?
I think his campaign speech writers are not Oval Office employees. Anyone working on the campaign had previously resigned as White House employees.

...maybe, but in reality, way WAY left.....
Trump needs to get his acceptance from ANY PLACE outside Washington DC. Some place with an uplifting background — preferably outside but not necessarily.
Giving an acceptance speech from the Oval Office just sounds boring. Surely his team can figure this out. It needs to be a location that increases curiosity and viewership.
Maybe Trump should just put together a reel of Obama and Clinton making political speeches from the White House and go with that.
“to misuse federal resources for political gain is something that we do not tolerate and is illegal in many respects. “
I’m getting a wiff of Schiff.
The current provisions of the so-called “Hatch Act” derive from the Hatch Act Amendments of 1993,’ and generally apply to, among other specified employees, “any individual, other than the President and the Vice President, employed or holding office
Sometimes these petty, small swipes disgust me more than the big ones do. What miserable, hateful, wretched creeps.
In a way, yes. But it’s a focus on minutia. It’s like getting pulled over for going 56 in a 55 in a place where most people do 65. It’s a technicality and ridiculously unreasonable.
I think he should give the speech from Air Force One circling NYC while burning tons of jet fuel at taxpayers expense and shutting down the local airspace.
she is?? I truly don’t understand how...
I doubt Obama wrote his own speeches? He had trouble reading them off the teleprompter.
“...and if anyone helps him do his speech, its in violation of the Hatch Act.”
OK, Senator, when Trump finishes his acceptance speech, you can burst onto the scene screaming, “You’re ALL under arrest!!!”
Sick of these presumptuous liberal Karens.
Miss Gilly Hopkins can get lost, the law is not applicable to this situation.
[[President Trump continues to demean his office. He continues to break norms,]]
Hmmm, per usual, no specifics, just false accusations
will she be calling for hte arrest of Joe Biden for plagiarizing then?
Hey Kirsten, I can remember some of the past, unlike you and your memory hole.
Breaking Norms? Try Clinton & Lewinski and "its not sex"? Try Al Gore and "No controlling legal authority." Try Obama and Lois Learner and the IRS. Try Joe and withholding US Funds until a Ukrainian Prosecutor if fired!
Another poster on another thread suggested the idea that President Trump rent a venue close to Biden’s home and began having speeches and pressers right there, constantly asking Biden to come out and join in the presser. Trump could also give his acceptance speech there, asking Biden to join the fun.
