Montgomery Countys top health official issued an order late Wednesday directing private schools to suspend in-person teaching until Oct. 1, a directive that officials say bypasses Maryland Gov. Larry Hogans request that private schools have sole authority over when and how to reopen.
The order from county health officer Travis Gayles cites specific sections of state code that he said empower local health officers to take actions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The move comes after Gayles last week ordered private schools in the county to begin classes online in the fall, a decision that sparked backlash from Hogan and others, and led to a lawsuit from parents seeking to overturn the directive.

In that case, I suppose there are no limits on Emperor Gayles powers.
MD ping.
Is there a provision in the Maryland State Constitution parallel to the 10th Amendment of the COTUS barring intervention from the higher governing authority?
I’ve seen a-holes like this in my life. Ego outweighs my ex.
It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see this guys future.
we can fire all the teachers
just keep one for each grade
have them record daily lessons
kids can watch
dont need dozens of teachers sitting on their asses doing 20% work or less
goodbye unions and we can sell all the school buildings as well
Lower property taxes!!!
I guess were going to have to have a brown vs board of education moment to reopen schools.
Of course, the teachers could just not show up.
Nah. The kids would just get smarter.
Montgomery County is run by Democratic Marxists, esp. its head, Mark Erlich. “Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum, I smell Soros money all around”.
Criminal government in action.

Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Last March when the schools closed, the teachers knew their students already. When schools reopen virtually in September, teachers will not have any personal relationship with the students. Therefore theres only need for one teacher per class/subject who will give the best online lesson. This is especially true in jurisdictions where the union says that a teachers face cannot be on camera.
The article says that Montgomery County Maryland is going to wait until cases are fewer than 10 per day. The county has about 1 million people. This is an incredibly small number that they say they are waiting for. I wonder what the number of false positives is out of 1 million people.
...the union says that a teachers face cannot be on camera.

For real?
Why?
Maryland’s Constitution begins with a very detailed Declaration of Rights.
Larry Hogan got the ball rolling by breaking at least 10 articles of the Declaration and his oath to protect the Constitution.
Here are just two examples.
Art. 8. That the Legislative, Executive and Judicial powers of Government ought to be forever separate and distinct from each other; and no person exercising the functions of one of said Departments shall assume or discharge the duties of any other.
Art. 9. That no power of suspending Laws or the execution of Laws, unless by, or derived from the Legislature, ought to be exercised, or allowed.
These people have no care or interest in any rules, laws of constitutionality. It’s just feelings all the way.
In the fall, teachers wont even have an already established relationship with their students.
