A group of Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle are claiming that theyre being priced out of their civil rights by the prohibitive costs of defending themselves against police violence.
The lawsuit filed Monday in federal court alleges that the repeated use of force by the Seattle Police Department has made it impossible for them to exercise their right to protest without pricey personal protective gear.
Because protesters now must purchase expensive equipment to be assured that they will be able to protest safely, the indiscriminate use of weapons by SPD implicates equal protection, the lawsuit says.

All those millionaire sports figures should outfit their little play army.
but most likely. the judge will side with them.
“thats not what the equal protection clause is about”
They’re not really making an “equal protection” argument, they are making a “disparate impact” argument. Unfortunately, in our current legal system, it actually is a legitimate legal argument, no matter how preposterous it seems.
I have a right to self defense. Where is my govt issue gun?
Some of these morons are going to wake up in their fed prison cell and finally realize they were just cannon fodder for the marxists.
Enjoy your stay, useful idiot.
‘Because protesters now must purchase expensive equipment to be assured that they will be able to protest safely.....”
These punks are nuts.

And I claim I can weave the hair on my ass into wings and fly to the moon.
Both claims are equally false and worthless.
Get a job and buy your OWN!
Come on now... Equipment comes WAAAAAAY behind executive compensation... /sarc
You left off don’t throw things at the police, don’t shoot fireworks at the police
I agree. Bulletproof vests should be free.
So, I should sue to guarantee my right to possess nuclear, biological and chemical weapons under such an argument?
Our government already possesses them, so that rationale should be on the same level as theirs, regardless of the fact that I’m pointing at the military which is run by our government.
Sounds like more lawyer fees for the unscrupulous.
How about a budget friendly, compostable, organic, sustainable cardboard coffin for each of these traitors?
Then, GO HOME!!! Simple.
It doesn't mean put on bullet vests, helmets, gasmasks, and shin guards, grab the fireworks and urine and feces bags, the bleach spray and the silly string and paintballs, the hammers, the stun guns, the jimmy-bars, the lasers, the high-intensity strobe lights, the crowbars the ball bearings and slingshots, and the megaphones used to insult the cops and their families - for hours, and continue to act aggressively towards police who want you to go home until you can act with at least a hint of sanity.
There is nothing about the anarchists that is ‘protesting’. It's hate actualized, and projected self-hate, led by mentally deficient gays and trans, who are followed by PTSD’s, autistics, bi-polars, a few violent tendency schizophrenics, animal abusers, bullies, chronic drug users, and arsonists (all self-identified in posts or video btw) with an irrational rage towards anyone who's a homeowner, has a good job or is white, especially Republicans. In other words, the mental ward of Seattle loose on the streets
The kid gave his granny up to his probie officer and in a sworn statement after arrest. The cops verified granny as the purchaser through her review - which the grandson had asked her to remove and to delete the picture she posted of him posing with his new vest. (he had told her he was just helping out with the food stand, all innocent and pure as the falling snow)
Granny responded to her grandson’s arrest with ‘he chose his poison’ (right on, Granny!)
Not the Babylon Bee? They’ve gone publicly stupid?
Also don’t bring baseball bats, bike locks, crow bars, brass knuckles & guns to “peaceful” protests.
Don’t have pallets of bricks delivered along the riot route.
