Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton gave speeches at the funeral for John Lewis, Democratic congressman who died earlier this month.
Obama delivered the eulogy, and used it to level criticism at the Trump administration’s attacks on peaceful protesters and voting rights amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“We can witness our federal government sending agents to use tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators,” Obama said. “There are those in power who are doing their darndest to discourage people from voting, by closing polling locations and targeting minorities with restrictive ID laws, attacking our voting rights with surgical precision, even undermining the postal service in an election that’s going to be dependent on mail-in ballots so people don’t get sick.”
Obama did not mention Trump by name.
Earlier in the day, Trump launched his latest attack on states’ vote-by-mail programs, baselessly claiming that they are rife with fraud.
Lewis was beaten by police on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala., where state troopers beat and used tear gas against peaceful marchers advocating against racial discrimination.
"Black Americans who were asking for nothing more than to be treated like other Americans, who were not asking for special treatment, just equal treatment, promised to them a century before.
"And someday, when we do finish that long journey towards freedom, when we do form a more perfect union, whether it's years from now or decades or even if it takes another two centuries, John Lewis will be a founding father of that fuller, fairer, better America."Obama said.

AOL is good for sharing files with others. Their email is better than most. I have used it since I joined Free Republic in 1998. Their news is the worst around. Yahoo is better and it sucks

I know, because i sold cars for two years and no one was denied a loan or given terms based on race.
Black entertainers are paid millions.
Professional athletes are worshipped as modern day gladiators and looked up to.
At all levels in the corporate world they are successful.
And yet, America has such a race problem that even Google suppresses the perils to people of color that, it seems, everyone wants to come and enjoy the American Dream.
Where are the failures of human waste who hold anyone down because of their skin color?
At least he went down as the worst president in history of the United States.
A title he will hold until Hillary is elected. God forbid!

That was a disgusting lowlife way for those ex-Presidents to act. For Trump not to be invited is disgusting behavior. They cannot put aside partisan crap even for a funeral.
Neither Bush, Obama, and Clinton had enough class to insist.
