A Florida couple was jailed for allegedly breaking a mandatory quarantine order after they tested positive for the coronavirus, local officials said Thursday.
Jose Antonio Freire Interian, 24, and Yohana Anahi Gonzalez, 27, were arrested Wednesday evening at their Key West apartment and taken to the Stock Island Detention Center, authorities said.
The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County had issued an isolation order on July 21 to the pair, instructing them to stay at home for 14 days and wear masks around others, The Miami Herald reported.
But neighbors complained that the carefree couple had been breaking the rules.
Freire was spotted walking his dog, making trips to the grocery store and washing his car, according to a police report. Both had been seen leaving and returning home without face coverings.

Just out of curiosity, is this local Florida health department doing this under existing legislative authority? Governor’s or local elected official’s emergency orders? Or just on the whim of some unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats?
‘yup, people wondered how the German population turned in the nazis, this is exactly how it happened’
and we’ve got one of those miscreants on this very thread; turn your friends and neighbors in to the authorities...
‘People have become disgusting rats during this virus.’
regard the post following yours...
And I was at two medical practitioners today in Florida (optometrist and primary care for a physical) and no masks among any of the employees, but yet these people got arrested for not wearing a mask in their yard.
So let’s see... they emptied the jails for fear of the spread of covid19. So now they have room to put people who *may* have been exposed to the virus into jails where they *know* the virus exists. Makes sense... for a politician.
Just e Nazi Germany where neighbors were reporting neighbors; they have a dog, have to walk him, get food, etc. Maybe should let the dog do hits business in the apt and pitch it out the window.
Good thing that many prisons have been emptied out of their harden felons due to COVID concerns to make room for people who violate COVID Rules.
They should have obeyed, right????
SIG HEIL!
99.8% of the people that get the ChiCom Flu are Asymptomatic and are INCAPABLE of transmitting the Virus. This is WELL KNOWN and Established by numerous other Countries. These Elected Officials should be EXILED to Venezuela or Cuba.
I take it they released the Felons from prison to make room for citizens? Seems strange to bring known Covid cases into prisons after letting rapists and murderers out that did not have Covid.
Almost like they are working hard to destabilize society to overthrow the government.
yes, was going to say this also..
Brigitte Gabriel lives in the US.. from Lebanon.. she said one day they were having a cook out in the driveway and the next day (after a revolution) the same neighbors were turning her family in to the gov.. and they had to flee.. same as Germany...
How about an ankle monitor with a loud siren. If you leave 20 feet from the residence, it blares and everyone knows you are a “risky person”.
I have friends who flew to the Caribbean last week. They had to have a test at least 4 days prior to departure, and to buy trip insurance in case they had to stay for 14+ days or worse things once they arrived. But it seems arbitrary. How do you know someone didn’t get the virus the day of the test or even before that when the viral load is still too low to detect, or the 4 days after? Maybe it’s some precaution, but not much of a safeguard against the truly reckless.
I smell a lawsuit! Theres some lawyers here in Florida that are offering pro bono representation lately for just this sort of situation. Go pro Bonos!!!

A lot of houses in Key West aren’t even 6 feet apart
But this is still bullSchitt
I know in Mass. the great majority of cases are in cities primarily occupied by illegal immigrants. And they are are working in every city and town. And I’d guess it’s the same throughout the country. And my experience tells me that they aren’t exactly taking this virus seriously at all. Probably the most prevalent spreaders of this virus by far.
Yet, chickens can roam free through restaurants down there
