Urged on by Black Lives Matter and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Connecticut Senate assured final passage of a police accountability bill early Wednesday morning, 21-15, during a rushed special session.

Bill No. 6004 (LCO No. 3700) passed the State House 86-58 Friday, after hours of overnight debate and then moved on to the Senate.

Every Senate Republican voted against the bill.

Well, it could be worse.

I bet a lot of states will pass ‘anti-police laws’ that will be much worse.

Why do people apply to be police officers in liberal strongholds to begin with? Theyre only going to get stabbed in the back.

When the first police officer is successfully sued under the “anti immunity” provisions of the bill there will be:

—Mass retirements
—Many officers moving to a more police friendly state
—The Ferguson effect—officers refusing to respond in a timely manner in potentially dangerous situations
—Faked injuries and disability claims
—Lower quality candidates for future police openings

The impact on the cities (already high crime areas) will be brutal—and black people (including innocent bystanders, children, home owners, vehicle owners) will be most of the victims.

Black lives do not matter to the CT legislature.

The reason why the Founding Fathers gave us a rather cumbersome process (at least on the federal level) for passing laws was SPECIFICALLY to avoid passing laws on the whims of the mob. It was constructed to have our elected representatives fully consider what they are doing, and whether it is in the best interests of the entire country to take a particular action, as opposed to just temporarily satisfying a mob.

No legislation passed in a hurry has ever been a good thing, and this CT idiocy is no exception. I hope that the people of CT get what they voted for, good and hard, and vote differently the next time around. Sometimes the only way to learn is to get hit in the head with a 2 x 4.

If they don’t hammer this vote home multiple times every single night until the election, then they are fools. This is a golden opportunity to show the difference between the Dems and the Republicans - yes, even the RINOs among them.

The Democrats delenda est!

Do these Communist Connecticut Senators believe that this bill will provide more safety and security to the people of Connecticut?

I guess that they do not have to have a backup plan in case the legislation they just passed does not work.

Apparently the Democrats do not care what their people think or want, just like communists.

Keep an eye on Police Academy enrollments. In many Demonrat enclaves it’s dwindling badly. A very bad omen.

Disagree. Those running the Dems are pretty smart in terms of doing what is necessary for them to obtain and maintain power. They are thus not dumb...but they ARE evil.

Now, their useful idiot voters and supporters...well, they are a different matter. Drooling morons ALL.

What you need to understand is that most Democrats ARE, in fact, Communists - even if they don’t call themselves that or understand it themselves. They are in favor of Communist/socialist/other collectivist policies, all of which will have the effect of destroying this country if enough of them are adopted or implemented.

Please understand that this isn’t a mere political difference - they want to CONTROL us, and having a great deal of instability from things like an economic shutdown or massive nationwide rioting is not an accident, it is not stupidity, it is a PLAN. They are doing all of this ON PURPOSE. They are the enemy, and there is no compromise with them any more than there could have been compromise with the Nazis, Japanese Empire or a disease. You defeat them, or they defeat you - period.

Indeed to all of that.

I’m shocked that any decent ones still work in any of those cities. I’d sure have quit by now, and be looking for a new job in a more sane environment. (Or a new career given that the cop hate is almost universal now.)

The ones who are claiming PTSD and looking for disability retirement are gaming the system.... in a way that it DESERVES be gamed, after the way the politicians AND the citizens they protect betray them. Hoist them by their own petards.

Traditionally CT officers go to the cities to train and build up their resume (since there is very low crime elsewhere). :-)

Then after a couple of years they apply for cushy jobs in the suburbs.

Hmmm....Was wondering how Kaiser Wilhems NYC PD is doing...from their web page:

“About the NYPD
In an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, the upcoming police officer hire that is scheduled for Monday, April 6th will be postponed until further notice.....”

“Register for the Police Officer Exam
There is no Police Officer exam being offered at this time. Please check back soon for more information.”

Think that hiring freeze and cadet academy hold is now the same in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, et al?

Bad boys, bad boys, whatchu goin’ when they come for you....

All the trial lawyer billboards in CT will be go from “injured in a car accident?” to “have your rights been violated by a police officer?”

This bill was low hanging fruit for the CT ruling party. A sop to their trial lawyer patrons and a “look what we’ve done” gesture to the BLM crowd. They just couldn’t say no.

The consequences will be brutal.
