Democrat Jaime Harrison's Senate campaign released an internal poll on Monday finding him in a statistical tie with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
The survey, conducted by veteran Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher, finds Graham at 43 percent and Harrison at 41 percent. That's within the survey's 3.5-point margin of error.
The poll found that 51 percent of respondents disapprove of the job Graham is doing. About 33 percent of South Carolina voters polled said Graham deserves to be reelected, with 59 percent saying it's time for someone new.
"The polling paints a clear picture: This is a close and competitive race," said Belcher, the president of Brilliant Corners Research and Strategies. "A majority of voters don't think Lindsey Graham deserves to be re-elected, and the more they learn about Jaime Harrison, the more they support him."

If the State government is primarily Republican then why have they allowed this open primary practice to continue? This is why local elections matter.
If it’s a state constitution issue then people need to get off their butts and get it changed.
Heck, if I answered a pollster I would say that Lindsey does not deserve reelection. However, if he won the primary and I still lived there, I would vote for him over this Dimocrat-wit.
Yea he is tied? LOL!
Doesn’t the open primary system in SC date back to all in the state were Rats. What GOP’ers there were could only meet secretly in a phone booth. It’s an ideal system for party grand poobahs to retain control.
I believe Collins is in the lead but is no where near the required 50% plus one majority to avoid a runoff. A runoff election is where the danger lies.
The SC GOP only wants Cheap Labor Express stooges.
They are just trying to make the GOP waste its money on this race.
If SC were to fall to the dems, our problems are far more than that particular Senate seat.
They did only with other jerks that the first jerk put up to run against him for the sole purpose of losing.
Now they decide they don’t like Lindsey. Where were they a couple of months ago when they could have kicked his worthless tail to the curb and nominated someone good?
GOP voters should care about Graham’s election exactly as much as he cared about President Trump’s in 2016: not at all.
SC voters had the opportunity to take him out in the primary and failed to do so.

A common problem with GOP voters. They won’t remove the backstabbers.
Also: Will 'RAT Joe Cunningham get re-elected in SC-01?
SC unfortunately still has those stupid open primaries. That’s why Linda wins again and again.
Another poll of registered DemonRat voters.
I think this is a really bad sign for SC and conservatism. I don’t know how Cunningham is polling but I see his commercials a lot here in the Lowcountry.
We have lots of good, strong Conservatives in South Carolina that would be light years better than linda in the Senate.
South Carolina having open primaries is the problem. During the primaries, several people, some much better than linda, will run opposing linda. But on primary voting day the RATS cross over in droves and vote for linda. linda wins the primary and, since SC is a strong red state, goes on the win the election.
The SC legislature is beginning to grow some balls and is making noise about closing the primaries.
Can't happen soon enough for me and lots of other Republican voters. But until the law is changed, linda has a job for life and she knows it.
Now linda's internal polling would be interesting to see.
Don't know much about Cunningham as I don't live near his district, but he ran unopposed in the primary. Nancy Mace won the repub primary and will give Cunningham a real run for his money come Nov.
I pretty sure Graham will win the state wide vote. I would bet Trump’s coat tails will get rid of Cunningham. He’s got a tough opponent in Nancy Mace. I think it was a fluke that the 1st district went blue in 2018. He ran against off shore drilling and working across the aisle. We know how that turned out. I hope Macce pounds him as Pelosi’s puppet.
GOP seems more united this time around after being split when Sanford lost in the primary in 2018. Cunningham won 50.6% to 49.2% in 2018--a 4,000 vote margin out of a total of 287,000 votes cast. In 2016, 325,000 votes were cast with Sanford winning 59% to 37%
