KNOXVILLE, Tenn. At first, the cheers for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz were louder than those for the man he came to stump for Friday morning, but that changed.
Cruz, R-Texas, came to Knoxville in support of Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Dr. Manny Sethi and a crowd of nearly 200 people crammed inside a dining room of the Southern Rail Station to hear from the two as Sethi attempts to go toe-to-toe with Bill Hagerty, the former U.S. ambassador to Japan.
The race has both tightened and gotten uglier in recent weeks ahead of the August 6 Election Day. Both candidates have slammed airwaves with attack ads, aimed at outdoing the others Republican, small government, against the liberals, Washington outsider-styled message.
Cruz, the popular libertarian who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2016, said Hagertys team has gone negative because theyre scared and that Sethi should take it as a compliment.
I told him, Listen, these ads, you ought to take as a compliment, Cruz said. Theyre running those ads for the same reason the government of China went after me (China recently sanctioned Cruz). Because theyre scared. The Washington swamp always tells you who theyre scared of.
Sethi acknowledged this and told his supporters to stand strong over the next few weeks, saying Hagerty would throw the kitchen sink at them in trying to win.

whatever.
Your health? You could not serve? Yet you use Fieldmarshal. What BS.
What has mystified me through all of this is Marsha Blackburn backing Hagerty over Sethi when she’d been a pretty straight arrow up to this point. Has she finally succumbed to the Swamp?
I know a lot of folks like Marsha a lot but I’ve never been a big fan. She was too buddy-buddy with Boehner for my taste. So it’s no surprise to me she went for Hagerty.
“whatever.”
I figure if you’re going to quote somebody, you should know who said it. No need to react like an indignant teenage girl.
“Your health? You could not serve?”
Yes. Is there an echo in here ? I’ve said that countless times.
“Yet you use Fieldmarshal. What BS.”
I wasn’t aware that was ever a legitimate American military rank. It was an insider joke from when I first got online back in the ‘90s, when I couldn’t come up with a suitable or memorable screen name for the message boards. Something which countless people have. In this case, a “field marshal” against the leftist online hordes on the political websites.
At no point have I ever attempted to impersonate a legitimate military figure in any way, which would be a felony. Of course, I’ve come across tons of folks claiming to have put on the uniform in order to act high and mighty over others who either didn’t or couldn’t serve. Some are legit, some not. To your claim of “BS”, I have never misrepresented myself, sir.
Personal grudge.
Unlikely, if only because there are more than 2 candidates in the race. The base supports Sethi.
I’m worn out, 4 freaking Type 2 reactions, now on insulin even as a Type 2. I’m not a spring chicken, 72 next month. The insulin Humalog Kwik pen is working OK, but find out it got changed to Novalog flex pen, I’m TIRED OF BEING A HUMAN GUINEA PIG. THEY CAN’T FIX THE GASTROPARESIS — VAGUS NERVE DAMAGE WHICH HAS CAUSED THE DIABETES. I HATE EXPRESS SCRIPTS, NEARLY AS MUCH AS DOCTORS.
THANKS for the ping! Let’s see, Romney, McCain,...
Yeah, I’m voting SETHI.
I'll stand by my prediction.
I predict Hagerty will beat Sethi 60% to 40%!
I am NOT saying 60% to 40% of the TOTALITY of the voters. There are a total of 14 candidates running for the Senate seat.
I am saying Hagerty will best Sethi by a 20% margin in number of votes cast between those two candidates.
Hagerty will win if he floods the primary with Demonrats, which is how the RINOs win in TN. The Conservative base backs Sethi.
