Another company stands up to the cancel culture mob: First, Goya Foods, Then Red Bull, Now Kudos to the Wall Street Journal!
American Thinker ^ | 07/25/2020 | Andrea Widburg

For quite a while now, we've been treated to the demoralizing and unedifying spectacle of media outlets and corporations bowing down to the mob's cancel culture demands. Authors have been banned, editors fired, Trader Joe's products renamed, statues dragged down, and much more, merely because spoiled, entitled, college-educated snowflakes, secure in their victimhood, have said words or products hurt their feelings and made them feel "unsafe."

Thankfully, after the first shock of this Maoist attack on American institutions, some are beginning to recover their backbones.

First, Goya Foods stood up to the mob. Then Red Bull refused to back down. And now the Wall Street Journal has declined to allow its baby journalists to hold its editorial page hostage.

The back story to the Journal's courageous stand is that 280 employees in the News department signed a letter to the publisher, Almar Latour, criticizing the paper's opinion pages. The letter is a marvel of Orwellian writing. It opens by expressing support for the First Amendment and then spends three pages explaining why the paper's opinion page needs to stifle itself because it publishes material with which the letter's signatories disagree. Not coincidentally, they invariably disagree with conservative content.

The greatest offender, according to the letter, was Heather Mac Donald's piece about a pair of academics' cowardly decision to withdraw from publication a study showing the absence of systemic racism when it came to the police shooting blacks in America. The academics wanted to withdraw the piece because Mac Donald had relied on its findings. (N.B.: Mac Donald had not twisted the results; she had merely relied on them.)

Mac Donald wrote about this academic game in the Wall Street Journal's opinion pages, something the letter-writers found unacceptable.

If Washington still wants to “do something” about immigration, we propose a five-word constitutional amendment: “There shall be open borders.”
Has the WSJ repented of writing this communistic garbage back in 1984?

All three firms have or will experience increased sales or be totally unaffected by the cancel culture nonsense and boycotts.
Red Bull makes by far most of its sales outside America in countries like Russia Bulgaria Poland China India where Black Lives Matter is thoroughly detested.
WSJs circulation is mostly to conservatives. I doubt if even one BLM or Antifa hoodlum subscribes to the WSJ.

One way to put the brakes on this Marxist insanity is to financially destroy any professional sporting franchise that gives into it. (At the moment that seems to be all of them.)

We have had our noses rubbed in “Black Lives Matter” signs, paintings, posters and patches while players refused to stand for our National Anthem for far too long. Let’s see how long those multi-million dollar paychecks to players keep getting written if these organizations have to depend on Antifa punks and BLM activists to be their audiences.

If you’re still watching the NFL, NBA or MLB you might as well just be writing a big check to BLM.

All of which have exactly nothing to do with their standing up to Antifa/BLM terrorism and intimidation. Something for which they should be strongly lauded.

Yesterday I stopped in a market near us that is very popular with the local Jewish community, which is also mostly Dem. I was going to buy some Goya plantain chips and found the shelf nearly empty. The stocking employee told me they are having trouble keeping Goya in stock. I really didn’t expect that response in that neighborhood. I hope it’s a sign.

Oh yeah!

The WSJ Opinion editors actually said of the letter signers, "Their anxieties aren't our responsibility".

Beotch slap you could hear in the next county!

While basically every “group” has been pandered to and coddled by Dems, Jews tend to be useful and honorable and hard-working, not useless drains given to violence. I don’t think they appreciate the violence.

Nothing to do with it? Not helping to create the monster would not necessitate having to stand up to it later.

The cancel-culture, BLM, pro-socialism, anti free enterprise force that currently dominates is beyond the point of no return. It’s the heights of naivety
and/or ignorance to assume otherwise.

We know about the deep state, FBI, CIA, the courts, et al. But media, universities and public (and most private) school systems are deeply entrenched and the terminal cancer that has diseased the brains of Americans for half a century.

Throw the brainwashing vehicles, now monopolies, of Google, YouTube, Facebook, etc. into the equation and there’s little else evil needs to overcome.

Even what used to be the last line of defense for human rights and defense of truth - the Church - has sold it’s soul.

There is nothing that stands in the way from complete fascism taking over and the land of the free and home of the brave from being reduced to ashes save Trump, righteous blood shed in the streets and a lot of miracles.

And I’m, by nature, an optimist.

Also take note that I asked if they had repented of writing that screed. So it has everything to do with it, since that was not just tacit support of the left-wing revolutionary movement:
The communists are further reproached with desiring to abolish countries and nationality.
By making a demand straight out of the Communist Manifesto, the WSJ showed whose side they were on.

There's a relatively small group of activists collected in "gatekeeper" positions. Probably the best example was Disney and the "woke" revolution. Disney had two properties that were money making machines, Marvel and Star Wars.

Marvel kept getting more popular, with the last movie making over 2 billion. Star Wars started out with their first Disney movie making over 2 billion, but the more woke they went, the less the movies made.

Instead of using the Marvel model to make Star Wars popular, Disney started using the Star Wars model on Marvel. They force fed Captain Marvel into the storyline, when there was no reason for it.

Despite the collapse of Star Wars sales and merchandising, Disney decided that replacing the successful Marvel series with a "woke" cast was the way to go.

They don't really want the old fans, which was reflected by the open hostility to them by the new directors, actors and actresses. They wanted "woke" fans, not realizing that the "woke" fans aren't fans of Star Wars or Marvel. They're fans of being woke. As soon as they make an industry go "woke," they move on to the next industry. Beyond that, there aren't that many of them. They live on twitter and a few other social media sites.

There's one other possibility, and that's that these people are deliberately trying to crash industries. It's the best way to explain NASCAR.

What does a 36 year old article in the WSJ about illegal immigration have to do with Black Lives Matter?
Black Lives Matter has little to do with illegal immigration being almost entirely made up African Americans and colored people.
And what does the WSJ standing up to the pervasive cancel culture today have to do with some editorial written 36 years ago by people who don't eve work at the WSJ anymore?
You wanna bring up even more idiotic nonsense?
