New claims for unemployment benefits rose to 1.41 million last week, data from the Department of Labor showed Thursday.

This is the 18th consecutive week of initial claims above 1 million. Prior to March, initial claims had never risen as high as 700,000.

Economists had forecast 1.3 million claims. The prior week was initially reported as 1.3 million claims. The Labor Department revised that figure up by 7,000.

Claims hit a record 6.87 million for the week of March 27. Until this week, each subsequent week has seen claims decline.

Continuing claims during the week ending July 11 fell to 16,197,000, a decrease of 1,107,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised down by 34,000 from 17,338,000 to 17,304,000. These figures are reported with a week’s lag.

Unexpectedly? You shut down over half the economy and jobless claims are unexpected?

The unemployment rate for July will be out soon.It seems likely to be a hopeful one...otherwise Rat Party Governors wouldn’t be talking about going back to square one...lockdown-wise.

That is what the renewed lockdowns and fake new coronavirus testing figures in Dem run states is all about. To shut down the economy a second time.
Too bad Trump is falling for the fake positive test figures instead of pointing out that people have been tested up to 17 times in some cases, each of them counted as a new positive and that some testing centers are reporting an impossible 100% positive rate.

WOR is saying that mass-murderer Cuomo is threatening to lock down NYC and Westchester again because people are being “stupid” (I heard a sound clip with him using that word).

The number wasn’t unexpected by me. Dictators can’t keep the country locked down and expect rising employment.

In NJ, Phil Murphy has a mask mandate for outside now. This is hurting the economy. The Governor of MN announced a facemask mandate too.
