Five days before voters went to the polls, Duda told a Bloomberg News interviewer that he was unmoved by appeals for Poland to legislate Holocaust restitution – apparently content with his country's status as the only member state of the European Union not to have done so.
"There won't be any damages paid for heirless property," he said. "I will never sign a law that will privilege any ethnic group vis-à-vis others. Damages should be paid by the one that started the war."
It doesn't take a forensic-language analyst to figure out that the "ethnic group" reference here is a euphemism for Poland's Jews – 3 million of whom were exterminated during the Nazi Holocaust. Duda is correct. Germany, not Poland, was responsible for the Holocaust even what of it Germany conducted on Polish soil.
What reparations are owed for the Holocaust are owed by Germany and owed to descendants of Jews killed in the Holocaust, not to Israel.

Take three buildings in Warsaw - in 1939 all three were owned by Polish Jewish families. A was in the future ghetto area, B and C outside the ghetto area.
A is obliterated, razed to the ground by the Germans in 1943 after the Warsaw ghetto uprising.
B and C are nearly completely destroyed by the Germans in the 1944 Warsaw uprising.
The families owning B are wiped out totally. Some relatives of families A and C survive.
In 1945 Poland slowly rebuilds - it takes decades.
In 1990 it frees itself from the Soviets.
Now the families of A and C ask for their land back - they have the deeds etc. - C gets it back, even though the people who are living there are unhappy, but the building was rebuilt.
A was razed to the ground and now there are partly buildings, partly public land. So they get some part
The question is about B — no blood relatives remain. But Israel asks for this land to be given as compensation to the Jewish nation. Poland protests, saying they were Polish Jews killed and there are no relatives
I’ve seen a few things from him in the news recently. He seems like a no nonsense kind of guy, which seems to be what the Polish people want. Good on them.
The concept of such reparations is grounds for killing off the voices demanding such payment. What is required is exterminating those raising the issue. Such trash is the universal enemy
You can call the article ‘rubbish’ but finding and reposting articles that educate us as to what liberals AND conservatives are trying to do is kind of the point of this site.

Heirless land reverts to the state to do with it as benefits the state. For A and C, let Germany cough up some more.

The German government, either in the large parts of Poland that were Germany at the time or the parts of Poland under the Generalgouvernement, confiscated the property of Jews in areas under it's control. At the end of the war, those properties were transferred (legitimately under international law) to the Polish state.
Given the tremendous lack of housing at the end of the war, and the displacement of about 3 million Poles from territory seized by the Soviet Union, Poles were placed in many of the properties that survived.
After 1989, Poland quite generously setup some compensation mechanism for the heirs of these properties, similar to the compensation scheme for wealthier Poles whose properties had been seized by the Communists and for properties seized from the Catholic Church. The Church, BTW, is still complaining, too. This was a delicate question because it obviously put the title of such properties at risk for the many current owners.
So I don't see what the problem is. I also note that Jews don't seem to be pursuing restitution claims against Belarus or Ukraine. I assume this has something to do with the fact that there are more surviving heirs of Polish Jews in the US or Israel and that the properties further to the East are nearly worthless.

Exactly. The Poles gave the properties to the relatives in 1990 - even though the rebuilding had been done by other people
Now non-relatives want the remaining properties - and the US government passed an act that support that
LGBT folks have been demanding more and more in Poland - parades and marriage etc. The Polish state says “see look, we have never had laws outlawing homosexuality. you do whatever you want to do behind closed doors, that’s your business. But now you want to teach it as normal in schools to 9 and 10 year old and we say no”
If (not just in Poland) they'd just keep it out of our faces we'd pretty much leave 'em alone.
