Vietnam has suspended 27 Pakistani pilots working at local airlines after 262 of 860 civilian commercial pilots in Pakistan were found to have fake licenses.
"All of the pilots are of Pakistani nationality and licensed in the country. These pilots are working at several airlines in Viet Nam," Dinh Viet Thang, Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam (CAAV), was quoted as saying by Vietnam News Agency.
Minister of Transport of Vietnam Nguyen Van The has asked the CAAV to review the licenses and certificates of foreign pilots who are working at local airlines. The minister ordered ban of fight missions of pilots suspected of counterfeiting documents in Pakistan.
There are reportedly about a thousand of foreign pilots working for domestic airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vasco, Vietjet Air, Jetstar and Bamboo Airways.
Pakistan's shocking fake license scandal came to light when aviation authorities were investigating the fatal PIA PK-8303 airplane crash. The airliner crashed into a congested residential area 5km short of Karachi international airport on May 22, killing 97 people on board.

Pakistani preliminary investigations have attributed the cause behind PIA Airbus A320 crash on May 22 to blunders committed by both pilot and air traffic controller (ATC).
The PK-8303 airplane operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crashed in Model Colony, a congested residential area around 5km from Karachi Airport last month, killing 97 people onboard.
On Monday, a provisional inquiry report stated that the pilot of the ill-fated flight was "overconfident" as he failed to follow Standard Operating Procedures for landing. The ATC also erred by giving the go-ahead to the pilot for making a second attempt for landing after the first failed, Pakistan local media reported.
Two failed attempts to land could have led the aircraft to lose both engines, reports said.
The team investigating the crash prepared the report on the basis of conversation between the ATC and the pilot, cockpit voice recorder data and evidence collected from the site where the plane had crashed.Pilot, ATC Responsible for PIA Airbus Crash: Pak Inquiry | June 23, 2020
Pilots of China Airlines (CAL) Airbus A330-300 managed to land the airplane safely in Taipei even after three of its computer systems lost power simultaneously and failed.
On June 14, the airplane was landing during rainy weather at the end of a flight from Shanghai's Pudong when the thrust reverser, automatic braking, and speed-brake panel systems all failed to work.
The pilots switched to manual braking to land the plane at which ultimately came to a halt just 9 meters from the end of the runway at Songshan Airport, reports said. The total runway length was 2600 meters.
None of the passengers were injured in the unfortunate incident.
Taiwan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is allegedly asking Airbus A330 pilots to consider the possibility of manual landing in the event of bad weather. If the airport does not allow sufficient distance for manual landing, the pilot should consider finding an alternative airport.

Picky, picky, picky.
Vietnam H1Bs.
Do they know how to land a plane?
At least one of them didn’t.
Of those flights all the pilots were either Brits or Aussies...except for one who sounded Arab.I was a bit nervous on that particular flight...but,as they say,any flight you can walk away from is a good one.And I was able to walk away from it. :-)
It’s hardly *shocking*.
It’s what muslims do.
I’m sure they were in place for when the orders came through for a mass jihadi attack.
Fail flight school. Buy the license from...somebody. Go straight into “OJT” with a commercial carrier. “Fake it till you make it.” *shudder*
Drunken pilot, maybe?
“The engines had scraped the runway three times on the pilot’s first attempt to land, causing friction and sparks.[4]:12 The contact with the runway may have caused substantial damage to the engines’ critical components located on the underside, consequently leading to failure.[67]”
“The aircraft was at an altitude of 9,800 at navigation-waypoint MAKLI, whereas it was expected to be at 3,000 ft. The pilots disengaged the autopilot, and switched to “OPEN DESCENT” mode, in an effort to capture the ILS glide path, the aircraft momentarily achieved descent rates of over -7000fpm. The landing gear was extended at a height of 7,200 ft while the aircraft was 10 nautical miles away, but the landing gear was inexplicably retracted by the time it came to 5 nautical miles from the runway. It eventually attempted to land without the landing gear extended.[71]
“Before the first landing attempt (according to the CVR and FDR), multiple alerts including the overspeed and gear unsafe warning, as well as ground proximity warning system (GPWS) all sounded, however they were either missed or disregarded by the flight crew. The reason the flight crew ignored these warnings has yet to be determined. One of the airport’s CCTV cameras recorded the aircraft’s first landing attempt and screenshots from the recording were used in the preliminary report. The recording shows the aircraft touching down on the runway on its engines with sparks resulting from friction with the asphalt at high speed.[4]:12

Kamikaze pilots for allah.
Jobs are getting scarce for pilots given the downturn in travel related to Covid-19. Suddenly there is no shortage of pilots in the military as pilots delay leaving until the job market improves.
What? You mean they dont give out real pilot licenses to undocumented pilots in pakistan?
Come on, Pakistan. Join the 21st century already!
California will show us the way.
Reduces the likelihood of SJS.

_____________
Incredible! How does one fake knowing how to fly?
Apparently they know that one quick way, but the Vietnamese want to avoid that.
:^)
Hi.
I’m guessing “fake licenses” means didn’t pay enough graft.
Or...
“Luv you long time GI.”. “Fi dollah.”

They learn a bit, flunk, but pay someone off. As you said, fake it 'til you make it. Just like A.A.
