The tower didn't know that their landing gear wasn't down???? Hell,I'm not a pilot...and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night but even *I* know that that's something that the tower would kinda need to know!

And as for buildings surrounding a runway...the first time I landed at Kai Tak I truly thought we were gonna die.I knew nothing about the "Kai Tak Heart Attack" but looking out the window as we approached I was able to see into people's windows and see their TVs!!!

Same with India. There is a definite cheat culture in that part of the world, where buying certificates and having ringers sit for exams and interviews is extremely common
