For weeks this summer, it was a seeming paradox of the coronavirus pandemic: cases in the United States were rising but deaths were falling.
To the Trump administration, this was evidence that its strategy for combating covid-19 was working. To medical experts, it was only a matter of time before the trajectory changed.
And now it has. Nationwide, deaths have begun to rise again. In some of the worst-hit states, especially across the South and the West, new death records are being set daily. As a virus-scarred summer wears on, public health specialists say the numbers are almost certain to continue to climb.....
More than 20,000 people in New York City have died of covid-19, far more than in any other city. But the case numbers have dropped precipitously since the spring. This week, New York celebrated its first day in months without a coronavirus-related death.

And NY must be running low on nursing home patients.
How many have died from smoking-related deaths? Alcohol-related deaths?
What a stupid thing to say. New York got hit hard and it was handled badly but the lockdown seems to work.
Now it’s up in southern States by several thousand percent over New York deaths these days.
Unlike so many a####es here who wanted a fence built around New York City, I will pray for Florida and Texas and all the other states that are experiencing a rise
Again none of you guys said this s*** when it was New York City :-)
and again like I said since Texas and Florida aee part of my country I will pray for them and do not wish ill like so many did for New York City
The State of Georgia reports that the number of confirmed cases are falling (after rising) and deaths have fallen to almost 0.
I’m certain none of the Southern governors are sending infected patients back into nursing homes as Cuomo, Murphy and Wolf have done.
Two authors
new death records are being set daily.

“But the case numbers have dropped precipitously since the spring. This week, New York celebrated its first day in months without a coronavirus-related death.”
They mean without a China Virus REPORTED death. Figures lie and liars figure.
NY has the most deaths by a wide margin and Cuomo massively screwed up by sending China Virus patients to nursing homes. This is an attempt to rehabilitate Cuomo.
How many people under the age of 18 have died in California?
Ans: Zero
How many people under the age of 24 have died in the US?
Ans.: 124
That includes all school ages through college and two years of postgraduate work.
Plus if you count anyone with a sniffle or a headache as Covid and anyone who dies with “probable” or “presumed” Covid as a Covid death. There is no way those numbers aren’t gonna keep flowing like that.
WE already KNOW the numbersw are inflated and faked in Texas and Fla. We just don’t know by how many. Texas lowered it’s count by over 3000 due to double counting.
I am surprised you have confidence in these reported numbers. Remember there is a financial incentive to report CV deaths and treatments.
Follow the money.
1/3 of all the deaths in this country have occurred in 3 states: NY, NJ and MA.
Media here in Georgia screaming about the rise in cases, but deaths averaging about one or zero per day, down from 10 or more per day months ago.
Financial fraud is occurring here on a massive scale. Bill Barr needs to announce an investigation. Watch what happens to the numbers then.
This is true and the governor is not making masks mandatory.
Odd, I never heard that second part mentioned until now.
Huh, Florida and Texas still have almost NINE TIMES fewer deaths with almost the same amount of confirmed cases. New York was murdering patients at an alarming rate.
Both Florida and Texas are protecting the elderly, treating serious patients better, using HQC/Z-Pacs, not shoving patients on ventilators too quickly, and will never equal the death rate of the murderous New York Governor.
The good news is herd immunity is happening in both states and a lot less damage.
This thing was never worse than a server flu if it was treated right. Half the deaths were unnecessary.
That happens from over-reporting positives as 98% when theyre actually 9.8%, calling every death from any cause where the person had tested positive a COVID death, and ignoring the fact that ICU bed occupancy is up because of postponed surgeries and also the huge number of shootings we have had recently in some of our cities in Florida. (And theres still plenty of ICU space.)
Florida has been subject to a massive attack by the media and the Dems, all of whom are out to get De Santis. Their first objective was to kill the RNC in Jacksonville, which they have partially managed to do by getting the RINO mayor to severely limit it. Now its to get the state to shut down so that all those businesses that managed to come back after the first one will be crushed and unable to come back again.
In this they have the support of the state teachers and municipal unions and all of the other leftist forces in Florida, particularly in notoriously corrupt Dem swamps such as Broward County.
I hope De Santis stays strong.
Regular flu deaths rise and fall every year. The news barely reports it and nobody gives a damn. What’s different this time? Hint: election year
