Federal law enforcement officers clad in camouflage uniforms and body armor — without any visible identification — have been using unmarked vans to grab and detain protesters in Portland. That’s according to reporting by Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) on Thursday evening.
According to the report, the officers were predominantly sourced from the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and Customs and Border Patrol’s Tactical Unit (BORTAC). They were sent to the area with orders to protect federal property amid ongoing protests against police brutality. However, videos and witness accounts provided to OPB and several other news outlets show the officers detaining people who are not near any federal property and putting them in unmarked rental minivans.

Juan Chavez, director of the civil rights project at the Oregon Justice Resource Center, described the tactics to OPB as “stop and frisk meets Guantanamo Bay.”
The federal intervention was not requested by local government officials; in fact, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and other local government representatives have explicitly requested that federal officers vacate the city.

I think this is a fake. Either:
A. An Antifa psy-op to keep their own people stirred up and onside. Also to furnish more BS for them to shriek at the gov’t about. Or,
B. Non-military, non-LEO volunteers grabbing these losers off the streets to see what they can get out of them...or just to scare them.
I would normally be against such things. But I have never seen local government remove the local police like this. It seemed to start with the Charlotte statue protest. The then governor of Virginia stopped the police from interfering with antifa beatings. Terry McAuliffe kept the state police outside of Charlotte and asked the mayor to do the same with local police. The result was a death. And the press was there to change the story. Terry McAuliffe is also a money man for the democrat party. And clearly has some ties to Antifa.
In at least one of those videos, it looks something like that could be the situation.
But some of the other videos - looks like they are picking up people fingered by informants, and the targets have been under surveillance for quite a while. The ones they take away are not happy.
We do not seem to be hearing from the targets afterwards. I wonder what is happening to them.
I’ll bet this is Trump’s plan. He knows that publicly putting troops in the streets will cause Democrats/Media to scream. However, sending in a clandestine team to do the same thing stops the problem without the publicity.

I'm amazed by the number of people here on FR who are supposed to be staunch supporters of the Constitution and BOR that are OK with people (even Antifa shitheads) being snatched off the street with no identification by the arresting parties. This isn't one of the ‘stan’ countries and they ain't special operators.

He was detained and searched. One man asked him if he had any weapons; he did not. They drove him to the federal courthouse and placed him in a holding cell. Two officers eventually returned to read his Miranda rights and ask if he would waive those rights to answer a few questions; he did not.
And almost as suddenly as they had grabbed him off the street, the men let him go.
Pettibone said he still does not know who arrested him or whether what happened to him legally qualifies as an arrest. The federal officers who snatched him off the street as he was walking home from a peaceful protest did not tell him why he had been detained or provide him any record of an arrest, he told The Post. As far as he knows, he has not been charged with any crimes.
