An Armonk woman is devising a plan with like-minded mothers in the community to form a home school co-op as an alternative when schools reopen.
Jackie Walker says the pandemic is centered around personal risks, and sending kids to school is a chance she isnt willing to take....

So how do they know they won’t infect each other?
I am actively involved in planning school reopenings, as a consultant.
I think the political conflicts among legislators, unions, governors, and school boards, with the bottom line being a demand by all stakeholders for perfect safety with zero infections, will make opening impossible, or will lead to closing within weeks.
I do not believe schools (public schools) will be open in 2020-21 in any significant fashion.

I was wondering the same thing, aren’t they just switching players?
But the basic idea is a great one and I hope it’s pursued when (if) the pandemic is has passed.

I agree. If for no other reason, the legalities involved will kill it, i.e. liability.
And she wants the school district to devop a program for her. Zend tour mids to school or Quit your job lady.

Good. Theyre nothing more than indoctrination centers anyway.

My wife/kids were part of a home school co-op.
Worked out very well.
Yup. Simple church-run schools taught by parents can also be a good alternative for learning.
Reading the tea leaves, I come to the same conclusion.
Pennsy just issued their guidelines, and they are all about safety. Which is arguable, but let’s accept the premise for the sake of argument.
Besides being unrealistic (wear masks, 6-ft distance, one-way hallways, hold classes in auditoriums & gyms, etc.), there does not seem to be much attention to costs, impacts on working families who will need childcare for partial weeks (especially with more than one child in the system), students (and staff) with disabilities, etc.
Looks to me like in-school will open the floodgates for all sorts of lawsuits.
And one more thing: most of the budget comes from property taxes. With people out of work, some losing their homes, that will put a tourniquet on even existing services.
That's not a homeschool co-op. In a real co-op, the parents organize and plan everything themselves.
I,m retired and will be searching for any local homeschooling who needs a biology teacher. Since I,m retired one might assume that I was at high risk. Well OK, but a study from Germany showed that kids basically don’t get the Wuhan Red Death, and more importantly they found that even those that test positive didn’t transmit the disease.
They'll arrest her.

I read this to mean that the mothers would form a “home school” group. I think it is a fantastic idea if Moms can pull it off. Keeps kids out of public school indoctrination!

I see, individuals teaching at home, sharing a common goal/interest. That would be good, too.

I agree; I think...
Send your kids to school!!! Sorry for bad typing on this phone.
What is an Armonk mother?
my feelings exactly.
Given the thousands of indoctrinated commie kids marching in the streets last month, a few months without commie indoctrination can’t possibly be a bad thing.
It’s not like they’re really learning anything in public schools anyways...
